In1980,ArthurjoinedTradaxOceanTransportation,Geneva,whichlaterbecameCargillInternationalSA,GenevaBranch,asOperationsSuperintendent.HemovedontobeOwningbroker,andthenaCharteringbroker,handlingoilanddrybulkcargorequirementsforvariousCargillproductlines.ArthurthentookresponsibilityforFleetInsuranceanddevelopedaninternalconsultancyrole,whichincludedthehandlingandresolutionofvariousdisputesarisingthroughtheoilanddryshippingactivitiesofCargill.

In1994,ArthurtransferredtoOrientShipManagement,HongKong.Ontheclosureofthecompany’sbusinessin1995,ArthurbecameaMarineConsultant,handlingInvestigativework,Legal,MarineClaimsandProjectManagement.In1997,ArthurwasappointedManagingDirectoroftheHongKongShipownersAssociation.Inthisrole,hehascontributedmanypaperstogeneralandindustrymedia,regularlyspokenatvariousconferencesandchampionedthemanyissuesthathavegiventheAssociationahighinternationalandregionalprofile.HeisaparttimeArbitratorforShippingandCommercialdisputes,andamemberofthePanelofArbitratorsmaintainedbytheHongKongInternationalArbitrationCentre.

FrancescoAmenta,M.D.isFullProfessorofHumanAnatomyintheSchoolofMedicinalandHealthProductsPharmacyattheUniversityofCamerino,Camerino,Italy.HeisalsoDeanoftheSchool.ProfessorAmentaattendedtheUniversityofRome,wherehegraduatedasDoctorofMedicineandSurgerywiththehighesthonorsin1977.Hereceivedhisspecialistdegreeinneurologyin1981,againwiththehighesthonors.

Since1978ProfessorAmentahehasbeenteachinganddoingresearch.From1984to1992hewasamemberoftheDepartmentofPublicHealthandCellBiologyattheUniversityof"TorVergata",Rome.InNovember1992heassumedhispresentpositionattheUniversityofCamerino.HealsohasprofessionalassociationswithuniversitiesintheU.S.,U.K.,Germany,andHungaryandhasbeenaconsultanttoseveralpharmaceuticalcompaniesandtotheEuropeanEconomicCommunity.FromNovember2013hewaselectedDeanoftheSchoolofMedicinalandHealthProductsPharmacyattheUniversityofCamerino.ProfessorAmentahasmanyscientificinterests.Basicallyhehasbeenconcentratingontechniquesofneurochemistryandhistochemistry,neuroeffectormechanismsprimarilyinthevascularsystem,autoradiographyofthesitesofbindingofneurotransmittersandofdrugsaffectingthecentralandperipheralnervoussystem,andanalysisofpharmacologicaltherapyofaging.Inthisareahehaspublishedover430scientificarticlesinpeer-reviewedjournals.Ofpapers42werereviewarticlesand9clinicaltrials.Hehaswrittenseveralbooksinltalian,editedtwobooksinEnglish,andtranslatedonebookfromEnglishintoltalian.HehasalsomadefrequentcontributionstotheItalianMedicalEncyclopedia.

In1995ProfessorAmentawasappointedasscientificdirectorofthenon-profitfoundationCentroInternazionaleRadioMedico(CIRM).CIRMistheItalianTelemedicalMaritimeAssistanceService(TMAS)andoffersmedicaladvicetoshipsandplaneswithoutadoctoronboard.CIRMisthehistoricalinstitutionofItaliantelemedicinebeingestablishedin1935andrepresentstheTMASwiththelargestexperienceintheworldinassistingpatientsonboardofseagoingvessels.AtCIRMProfessorAmentastartedanappliedresearchactivityforimprovingthequalityofmedicalcareinfavourofseafarers.Thisincludedalsothepromotionoftelemedicineeducationforthedifferentactorsofmedicalassistanceatsea.

Basedonthisexperienceandontheawarenessthattheprogressoftelemedicinerequiresprimarilyeducation,hedevelopedattheUniversityofCamerinoaMastercourseine-Healthheldfrom2004to2012.Thepurposeofthe8editionsofthisMasterwastotrainhealthgraduatedprofessionalstowardsabasicaspectsandpracticalapplicationsofe-healthandtelemedicine.Aspecificevolutionofthee-HealthMasterwasthedevelopmentofaMastercourseforhealthprofessionalsoftheoilandgasindustry.ThemissionoftheMasterInOilandGAsTElemedicineandTElepharmacy(MIOGATE)wastoprovidetohealthprofessionalsworkinginoilandgasfieldsorplatformsaspecifictrainingine-health,telemedicine,telepharmacyandtheirpracticalapplications.BasicresearchasabridgefordevelopingneweducationalinitiativesinthevisionofauniversityprojectedtotrainprofessionalsforthenewdemandsofthelabormarketarethemaineffortofthecommitmentofProfessorAmentaactivity.HisactivityanddedicationinthefieldoftelemedicinewerecrownedinhiselectioninMarch2011asPresidentoftheCIRM.

UnderProfessorAmentaguidanceCIRMhasdevelopednewservicesforimprovingthequalityofmedicalassistanceonboardshipsandmovingfromtheobsoletedescriptionsofsymptomssufferedbypatientsincaseofdiseasesoraccidentsonboardintohighqualitytelemedicinesolutions.Solutionsthatcanincreasesafetyofnavigation,preventingdiversionsfromtheroute,oratleastdelayformedicalproblems.
