Using the presser board in a sawing action as indicated by the arrows to level off the compost in the tray.

Use the presser board to uniformly consolidate the compost in the tray. Note how the fingers spread apart to assist this process.

Sowing fine seed which has been mixed 5 to 1 with 1 mm sieved sand. Look carefully at the photograph and you will see the seed and sand leaving the card.

Sowing medium-size seed in the seed tray. A mistake has been made with too much seed deposited in one area as shown by the finger pointing. This will possibly cause damping off.

Using static electricity to collect seed sown densely in one area.

The correct covering depth suitable for medium-size seed. This is equivalent to the thickness of the seed.

The correct use of the watering can and rose. The best area to water seed trays is indicated by the yellow arrow.

Always start and finish watering away from the seed tray to avoid problems as indicated in the photograph.
