Fact Fluency Phases1. Pre-Modeling Phase: Answers incorrectly (guessing) or doesn’t attempt

to solve.

2. Modeling Phase: Modeling and/or counting all or counting on to find

the answer: For example, using fingers to help keep track of their

counts to solve 5+7=?

3. Reasoning Phase: Deriving answers using reasoning strategies based on

known facts, such a solving 5+7 by thinking, “Five plus five equals ten,

and two more will make twelve.”

4. Efficient Phase: Mastery or efficient production of answers. For

example, when asked, “What is 5 + 7?” a child might call out, “Twelve,”

and explain, “I just knew it.”

Grading Students are graded on report cards with an

O (Outstanding), S (Satisfactory), and N (Needs improvement)

These may fluctuate over the course of the year as the curriculum intensifies.

There will be a section that states whether the child is working on/above grade expectations or below them.

Interim reports are sent home midway through each quarter.

All chaperones must be volunteer trained prior to attending any field trip. Please note on form which adult will be attending.

Starbucks will be given to students for following these standards.

They can use their Starbucks at the school store or some classrooms have other rewards that they

can choose from.

Reflection Sheets

If a teacher has to talk to a student several times, the student might be asked to reflect upon their behavior. They will complete a reflection form and discuss with the teacher.

You don’t have to sign the reflection paper. It is just to keep you informed. If you have a question, please contact the teacher.

Parent Conferences

* Conferences will be held from 3:30-6:30

Volunteers Forms will be sent home for you to indicate your availability Volunteer calendars will be sent home with your child to indicate

your volunteer time Times are 9:00-10:30 You MUST complete volunteer training EVERY school year if you

plan on attending field trips, working with students in classrooms, or helping with any school activity. Volunteer training is done completely online through the CCPS website.

Be sure to complete your training early because it will take time for approval and be placed in the system. If you are not approved in the system, you will not be able to volunteer.

Volunteers will be asked to: make copies cut out materials read and write with students practice math facts

Helpful tips: LSE PTA has provided an easily accessible online

student directory to allow you to plan play dates, birthday parties, and outdoor activities.

No invitations will be allowed to be sent from school even if you invite the whole class.

If you plan to have lunch with your child, please be aware you will need to sit at the parent table with your child.

Absences must be written on a separate paper or emailed to LSE attendance. Dismissal changes must be a separate note as well.
