Process

This is the start of my digipak. I wanted to use continuity throughout my digipak and my poster. I have used the same picture as my poster as it creates the same aspect of the video which is very sultry and elegant and I didn't want the audience to get a misinterpretation of my music video by the front of the album. Additionally, I have used a picture which I took from the photos I took when making the video and making it black and white. This shows continuity throughout the digipak as it is relatable to the music video.

For the back cover, I wanted to choose something not to do with the dance and just the girl by herself. When looking through photos, I found this one which I think would look great for the back cover as it shows she is innocent and in a dream-like phase. However, as it was black and white, I wanted something different to just plain black and white, I wanted to give it some edge as the audience read the back cover.

Here, I took a background photo of where I was filming which was just an ordinary colour of the scenery. I decided to create a new layer and put that behind the photo to see if I could create something different using two pictures.

Using the 'Spot healing tool' I started to rub around the actress and it created a colour effect. I still wanted to keep the continuity of black and white as that is what the music video is about, however, the colour of the grass gives an edge to it as it is showing reality to non-reality.

I have now finished what the picture will look like, and now I will add some text on for the back of the CD cover.

I have scaled the photo so the actress is on the left of the CD cover, this way, it gives me enough space to write my texts on the other side of the grass.

As I started putting song titles on, I added more and more rulers on the text because I needed the text to keep in a straight line. Also, I included the barcode onto my back cover, otherwise no one would be able to buy it! Additionally, I added the sub title of bonus tracks as that is what is included within the back CD cover.

As you can see, I have added more tracks onto the back of my CD, up to 13 songs which will be on the album. Also, I have pushed all of the writing onto the right side of the picture to gain more effect and does not seem to be squashed and compressed into the middle of the picture.

Inspiration from Beyonce's album, I added some text at the bottom of my CD cover showing where the album has come from, who made it etc. Also, I wanted the website of the artist on the back cover as well so people can refer to this via web 2.0. Also, I have added the logo of the record label as well so the audience can see other people who my record label record. I had to change the colour of 'CLC RECORDS' as you can hardly see the black writing on the dark background.

So far, I have completed 3 of the templates out of 6. I have another photo to do and then the CD's.

After evaluating my back cover on the CD case, I realised they were two cd's instead of just the one. I had to arrange all my text differently. For example, I had to delete bonus tracks as they were not needed anymore. Also, The writing was not straight and in line and that is what I tried to do.

This is my finished product of my back cover. I have now straightened all of the text in line as there is no error in place.

With this screenshot, I realised I had the wrong template for my Digipak and all of my pictures were squashed together and you could hardly see any writing that was produced onto each cover.

In this shot, I changed the photo to the right size which was 5.4 x 4.9 (crop tool) meaning that the image would be a perfect fit for my digipak template. For this, I had to choose out of the picture which was the best part I would like to put on my covers.

For this cover, this was the picture I had chosen to be on CD 1.

Additionally, I had to cut out the "Jeana G" which was on the picture first, and just have the image of the two dancers combined. I later added the title of "Jeana G " with "Crazy in Love" also.

Here is a screenshot of the picture of CD 1 on the template. For this, I had to change the opacity when using the polygon lasso tool to crop the image to fit the target of the CD.

I have now completed choosing the pictures which are going into my Digipak. However, a fault of these would be that I have cut out parts of the CD which should just be a full dimension circle. I need to change as I accidentally cut them out.

When completing the products, I have had to rotate the top 3 images so when the Digipak is printed out, it will match in reality.
