Screen printing!

You need a screen, a coating trough and screen emulsion

Pour screen emulsion into the coating trough. Pull the trough once over the screen

with even pressure…

Voila! It should be smoothly coated with no drips, lumps or bumps.

Place the screen in a dark place (under the printing table) until its dry...ideally overnight.

Print your image onto acetate

Place your acetate onto the light box. Correct view up ie. If there are words, you should be able to read them! Turn the

light box on and leave for two minutes to warm up!

Don’t look into the light! Place your screen face down on top of your image. You can place a sketch pad or similar on

top to weigh it down. Leave it for 5 minutes exactly.

Rinse your screen GENTLY with the power washer until your image appears. The areas where the

emulsion washes away to reveal your image should be completely clear.

Choose your Screen printing Inks and paper (or anything you wish to print on). Don’t forget your

squeege, paper towels and palette knife.

Stick gummed tape around the edge of your image to prevent any ink escaping!

Place the screen face down onto your paper…make sure the image is placed where you want it

to print.

With a pallette knife scoop plenty of ink along one side of your image.

Pull the ink over your image with the squeege in one smooth motion. Press firmly but not too hard!

Lift your screen up gently. Lift it like a hinge so that if it has not printed properly it can be put back in

the same place and re-printed.

Tada!

You can re-print it with as many different colours as you like!
