Location and Physical Features• Scotland is located just North of Great Britain. Hadrian’s Wall acts as a

mental map between Scotland and England.

• Scotland has very mountainous terrain which is described as Highlands.

• Scotland has a Temperate Climate while it is still cold, wet, and further north, it doesn’t experience extreme changes in weather. It does experience extended periods of long summer and winter days because of the higher latitude.

Government• Scotland falls under the United Kingdom’s jurisdiction in government. The

Prime Minister is the head of the government under the support from cabinet members and ministers. The Prime Minister also chooses who the ministers are from the House of Commons and House of Lords to discuss policies during Parliament. The Current Prime Minister is David Cameron.

• 100 AD – Picts original inhabitants of Scotland, Remnants of standing stones across Scotland.

• 500AD- Scots arrive from Ireland, Establish Capital at Dunadd.• 800AD- Kenneth Mac Alpine King of the Scots at Dunadd, became King of

the Picts marrying into the Pictish line.• 1290- Edward I conquered Scotland, led to the rebellion by William

Wallace. Robert the Bruce continued on after and gained Scotland's freedom.

• 1603-Elizabeth I died, James VI of Scotland became James I of England because England didn’t have any heirs, Union of the Crowns.

• 1999- Scotland gained its own Parliament
