Introduction of Zhejiang Normal University
Founded in 1956, Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) covers two campuses in
Zhangjiang province. The main one is located in one of the four metropolitan areas in
Zhejiang Province, Jinhua—Yiwu Metropolitan area. Jinhua enjoys very convenient
transportation with 40 minutes to Hangzhou and 100 minutes to Shanghai by the
high-speed rail. The branch campus is in Hangzhou, the capital of the province. Its
green and beautiful campus furnishes an ideal place for living, study and work.
As one of the top 100 universities in China and a key provincial university,
ZJNU specializes in teacher education with multiple branches of learning. It offers 68
undergraduate programs, 53 master’s programs, 28 doctoral programs and 1
non-degree program(including 12 undergraduate programs taught in English and 18
postgraduate programs taught in English) from 19 colleges namely: Chuyang Honors
College, College of Economics and Management, China-Africa International Business
School, College of Law and Political Science, School of Marxism, College of Teacher

College of Engineering. The university has an enrollment of over 25,000
undergraduates, 6,000 postgraduates and more than 3000 international students.
Among the total staff of 2,850, there are 1,920 full-time teachers, including 340 full
professors and 680 associate professors, and 800 teachers hold doctorate degrees. The
university is well equipped with advanced and multi-functional facilities. The library
has a collection of over 3.7 million hard-copy books and 2.2 million e-books.
ZJNU makes strenuous efforts to open up to the outside world. In recent years,
ties of academic exchange and cooperation have been set up between this university
and over 190 foreign universities and research institutes in more than 50 countries. It
has established student exchange programs with more than 40 overseas partner
universities. So far, the university has established six Confucius Institutes in the US,
Ukraine, Cameroon, Mozambique Tanzania and South Africa respectively. The
university is authorized by the Ministry of Education to recruit international students
who are sponsored by Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute
Scholarship. Also, international students can apply Zhejiang Provincial Government
Scholarship, Scholarship of Jinhua Municipal People's Government and Zhejiang
Normal University Scholarship at ZJNU.

Zhejiang Normal University has put a new premium on the cultivation quality of
international students. A complete cultivation system including non-degree programs,

CSC Scholarship-Bilateral Program
Bilateral Program includes scholarships in accordance with educational exchange
agreements or MOUs between the Chinese government and governments of other
countries, institutions, universities and international organizations.
Bilateral Program supports undergraduate programs, master’s programs, doctoral
programs, general scholar programs and senior scholar programs. Applicants should
consult the dispatching authorities in the home countries for the programs available
and for the specific deadline of each year, and apply to the dispatching authorities in
due time.
For supporting your scholarship application, you are welcome to apply for
ZJNU Pre-admission Letter in two ways:
1) Send us all the required documents to our email: admission@zjnu.edu.cn;
2) Or submit the required documents in hard copies in person to the International
Admissions Office of ZJNU.
For the eligible applicants, we will issue the ZJNU Pre-admission Letter in 5
working days upon receiving the documents.
Application Guide for Bilateral Program
1. Complete the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for
International Students, (http://www.campuschina.org) submit online the
completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship and print a
hard copy. Please choose ZJNU as your only Preference of institution.
You should consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home
country for Instructions of CSC Online Application System for International
Students and Agency Number. The Agency Number of ZJNU is 10345.
2. Apply for ZJNU Pre-admission Letter once recommended by the dispatching
authorities as an eligible candidate upon receiving the Award Letter for CGS
Candidate.With this Pre-admission Letter, your choice of ZJNU will be respected
normally.

3. A package of complete application documents must be submitted to the dispatching
authorities in your home countries before the deadline.
4. Neither CSC nor ZJNU is entitled to accept the applications for Bilateral Program
directly. Please DO NOT submit your application to CSC or ZJNU directly. Only
applications of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will be
considered.
Tracking the Admission Procedures
CSC will send, before July 31st, the List of Scholarship Winners, Admission
Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to the Chinese
Embassy (Consulate General), who will forward the documents to the dispatching
authorities for overseas study or the scholarship winners.

CSC Scholarship—Chinese University Program
CSC scholarship—ZJNU Independent Enrollment Program is a full scholarship
for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific
provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for
graduate studies in China. It only supports graduate students. Applicants shall apply to
the designated Chinese universities undertaking this program. Zhejiang Normal
University is one of the designated universities.
Category of Enrollment
Full-time postgraduates (Master, Ph. D)
1. Qualifications
Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens.
Applicants who study for a master degree should be under 35 years old and have a
bachelor's degree.
Applicants who study for a doctoral degree should be under 40 years old and
have a master's degree.
Applicants who want to study in program taught in Chinese should have at least
HSK 4 certificate, if students do not meet the language requirement of the specific
program, students should study 1 year Chinese language and after passing relavant
HSK test, student can start the program.
Graduating students from Chinese universities in 2020 are not acceptable.
2. Scholarship Coverage
(1) Full Scholarship covers tuition fee, accommodation fee, stipend and
comprehensive medical insurance.
(2) Partial scholarship covers one or some items of the full scholarship.
3. Application Procedure
(1) On-line Application
1)Click “Application online” at www.campuschina.org, and begin from “Create
an account”;

2) Read the Instructions carefully. The program category should be Type B, and
Agency No. of ZJNU is 10345;
3) Upload the required documents, and click the SUBMIT.
(2) Application Documents
The applicants provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely.
1). Highest diploma (original or notarized photocopy): Documents in languages
other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese
or English.
2). Academic transcripts (original or notarized photocopy): Transcripts in
languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations
in Chinese or English.
3). A study or research plan. All applicants are required to submit a study or
research plan. It must be in Chinese or in English and no less than 800 words.

4). Recommendation letters: Applicants for postgraduate studies must submit
two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate
professors.
5). Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form(Download at
http://iso.zjnu.edu.cn/wpplicationwwocuments/list.htm). The medical examinations
must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Please
select the appropriate time to take medical examination as it is valid for only 6
months.
6) HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test) Certificate. Applicants for English-taught
programs must submit proof of English Language proficiency.
Note: You are not required to post hard copies of your application
doucments to the university during the period of application.

Academic Education Programs Sponsored by
Ministry of Commerce PRC (MPA Scholarship)
Starting from 2008, the Academic Education Programs sponsored by the
Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China is designed to foster top cadre
business officials and managerial personnel from the recipient countries, offering
one-year and two-year master programs as well as three-year doctoral programs for
the purpose of offering inter-disciplinary education to top level personnel working in
the fields of government, trade, foreign affairs, agriculture, technology, education,
culture, and health, building intellectual capacity and facilitating the economic and
social development of the recipient countries. These programs provide assistance to
the government officials, research fellows, and senior managerial personnel for their
master and doctoral education in China. The programs are fully conducted in English.
Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree, relevant working experiences,
and good health conditions, essential for the high-compact curriculum programs.
1. Financial Aid
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce will provide the Chinese Government
Scholarship to admitted students from the developing countries. The scholarship will
cover the tuition waiver, on-campus accommodation, 3000RMB monthly stipend,
medical insurance and one-time round-trip international tickets. There is also a
settlement allowance of 3000RMB/person.
If a student expects to have his/her spouse, children, relatives or friends to visit
him/her during the stay in China, the visitor will have to bear all the expenses
personally.
2. Application
(1) Requirements
All applicants must meet the following admission requirements:

1) The Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from the developing countries,
with a valid passport, or any other identification certificate sufficient to verify his/her
nationality;
2) The Applicants should have recognized bachelor’s degree; Under the age of
45;
3) The Applicants must be proficient in English. Non-native English speakers or
candidates whose undergraduate education was not conducted in English are required
to submit a test score of TOEFL or IELTS as a proof of English proficiency.
Applicants with the following scores would be considered:
TOEFL 100 or above in iBT (Internet-Based TOEFL); TOEFL 600 or above in
PBT (Paper-Based TOEFL), or IELTS 7.0 or above in overall band score.
4) All applicants shall be in good physical conditions and have no infectious
diseases which may have a serious impact on public health or fall into any of the
health situations prohibited by China’s Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Laws
and Regulations, including severe hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes,
cancer, other chronic diseases, and mental disorders. Applicants who are in the period
from a major surgery recovery or onset of the acute disease, during pregnancy, or
have severe disabilities will not be considered. A medical report issued by a local
public hospital is required.
5) Only applicants recommended by the Economic and Commercial
Counselor’s Office of Chinese Embassy in the candidate’s home country will be
considered.

All the applicants should apply online and upload scanned copies of the required
documents in the online application system, and there is no need to send the
documents to our email again.
The financial source should be MPA Scholarship.
2) Application for Chinese Government Scholarship

Please visit the online application system of Chinese Scholarship Council at
www.campuschina.org, and register for an account. Select the program “Chinese
Government Scholarship”, fill in all the required information, and an application form
will be created. Print out the form, ensure that name and date is hand-written on the
form, and then affix a passport size photo on it. To complete the form successfully,
please note the following information:
A. The agency No. of Zhejiang Normal University is 10345;
B. For the master program, Discipline is “Education”, Major is “Comparative
Education”

(4) Submission
A. Submit all the application materials listed above in both hard copy and
scanned copy to the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of Chinese
Embassy in your home country. The Hard copy must include both the original copy
and the photocopy, as indicated in the table.
B. Submit a written request to the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s
Office of Chinese Embassy for an official recommendation letter and clearly state:
whether the applicant is willing to be considered for a similar program at other
universities if there is no vacancy in the programs at ZJNU. Other special requests if
any.
C. After receiving the official recommendation letter, the applicants should
apply online in university website(http://admission.zjnu.edu.cn)and CSC website
(www.campuschina.org), and all the required documents should be uploaded online
in scanned copies.
3. Deadline
Deadline of Application: normally end of June, 2020, specific date of deadline
subject to the information released in university admission website.

Confucius Institute Scholarship Program
For the purpose of cultivating qualified Chinese language teachers and
facilitating the promotion of Chinese language and culture, the Confucius Institute
Headquarters (Hanban) launches “Confucius Institute Scholarship” (CIS) to support
outstanding students, scholars and currently employed Chinese language teachers
recommended by Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms
as well as some HSK test centers (hereinafter collectively referred to as
“recommending institutions”) to study in Chinese universities and colleges
(hereinafter referred to as “host institutions”).
I. Eligibility
All applicants shall be:
a) non-Chinese citizens;
b) in good physical and mental condition, with good academic performance and
conduct;
c) committed to the teaching and international promotion of the Chinese
language;
d) between the ages of 18 and 35 as of September 1st, 2019. Applicants currently
working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45, while undergraduate
student applicants shall not be over 25.

III Scholarship Coverage
The scholarship covers tuition fee, accommodation fee, monthly living
allowance (except four weeks students) and comprehensive insurance for foreign
students studying in China. The amount of living allowance is 2500 yuan per month
for undergraduate students, one-academic-year students and one-semester students.
For Master in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, it’s 3000 yuan per
month.
Confucius Institute students should register on time according to the admission
notice, otherwise, the scholarship will be cancelled. Students who register before
September 15 (including September 15) can get the whole month living allowance,

and students who register after September 15 can only get half of the living allowance
for this month.
IV. Application Procedure
Online registration will be available from March 1, 2019 on the Confucius
Institute Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn). Please log on to find recommendation
institutions and host institutions (the Agency Number of ZJNU is 10345), submit
application documents online, track the application progress, feedback of review and
admission results. Scholarship winners shall confirm with the host institutions to go
through the procedures of studying in China, print out CIS certificate online, and
register at host institutions on the designated date as per the letter of admission.
The application deadlines are
a) April 10th (for programs commencing in July)
b) May 10th (for programs commencing in September)
c) September 10th (for programs commencing in December)
d) November 10th (for programs commencing in March 2021)
Hanban will complete the scholarship review and publish the results three
months before enrollment of the scholarship winners.
V. “Chinese Bridge” Award Recipient Policies
Chinese Bridge winners who have been awarded the 2020 “Confucius Institute
Scholarship Certificate” shall log onto the scholarship website and submit documents
to relevant host institutions upon presentation of their CIS certificates.
VI. Disclaimer
1. Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed.
2. Applicants will be disqualified from application in case of fraudulent
application materials or application materials are completed and submitted by
someone else.
3. Scholarship winners who cannot register with the host institutions on time
should inform the host institution about the reasons in written form within 15 days
before the admission date. For those who do not register as requested without reason,
the scholarship will be canceled.

4. Scholarship will be canceled for those who do not pass the admission
physical examination, drop out, or take schooling suspension during the study.

Appendix 1
Confucius Institute Scholarship Coverage and Criteria
The Confucius Institute Scholarship provides full coverage on tuition fee,
accommodation fee, living allowance (four-week study students are excluded) and
comprehensive medical insurance expenses.
a) Tuition is under the overall planning and utilization of host institutions to
provide teaching and management of scholarship students organizing cultural and
social activities, as well as organizing Chinese language proficiency tests. Tuition
fee does not cover the textbook expenses and tourist tickets.
b) Accommodation fee is under the overall planning and utilization of host
institutions to provide students with in-campusapartments (usually double rooms).
Students may also live off-campus upon application and getting permission from
the host institutions. Students who live off-campus are entitled to accommodation
allowance of 1000 CNY per person/month for doctoral students and 700 CNY per
person/month for other students paid on a monthly / quarterly basis from the host
institutions.
c) Living allowance is granted by host institutions on a monthly basis. The
monthly allowance for undergraduates, one-academic-year study students and
one-semester students is 2,500 CNY per person. For MTCSOL student, the monthly
allowance is 3,000 CNY per person. For DTCSOL student, the monthly allowance
is 3500 CNY per person.
Students are required to complete enrollment procedures for every semester
within stipulated period; otherwise, their scholarship may be cancelled. Students
who are enrolled before the 15th (or on the 15th) of the month are entitled to the
full allowance of that month while those enrolled after the 15th of that month are
only entitled to half of the amount.
During the study period, for any student who is absent from China due to
personal reasons for more than 15 days (excluding winter and summer holidays),
the allowance during absence will be suspended.
For students who suspend study or drop out of school for personal reasons, or

who are given disciplinary punishment by the host institutions, allowance will be
terminated on the date of such suspension, dropping out or when the decision of
such punishment is announced.
The living allowance for the month of graduation will be granted half a month
after the date of graduation or expiration day of the study confirmed by host
institutions.
Comprehensive medical insurance is purchased by the host institutions in
accordance with relevant regulations of studying in China stipulated by the
Ministry of Education of China. Insurance fee per person is 160 CNY for four-week
study students, 400 CNY for one-semester students, and 800 CNY per year for
students engaged in program longer than one academic year.

Confucius Institute Scholarship Program
For the purpose of implementing the spirit of the reform and development of the
Confucius Institutes in the central government, further improving the efficiency of the
use of funds of the Confucius Institutes, and appropriately expanding the number of
scholarships for Confucius Institutes, according to the relevant provisions of the
Confucius Institute Scholarship Management Measures (Trial), Confucius Institute
Headquarters/Hanban and Zhejiang Normal University decided to establish a
cooperative scholarship for the Confucius Institute at Zhejiang Normal University
from 2019.
I. Eligibility
All applicants shall be:

b) in good physical and mental condition, with good academic performance and
conduct;
c) committed to the teaching and international promotion of the Chinese
language;

III Scholarship Coverage
The scholarship covers tuition fee, accommodation fee, monthly living
allowance (except four weeks students) and comprehensive insurance for foreign
students studying in China. The amount of living allowance is 2500 yuan per month
for undergraduate students and one-academic-year students. For Master in Teaching
Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, it’s 3000 yuan per month.
Confucius Institute students should register on time according to the admission
notice, otherwise, the scholarship will be cancelled. Students who register before
September 15 (including September 15) can get the whole month living allowance,
and students who register after September 15 can only get half of the living allowance
for this month.
IV. Application Procedure
Online application will be available from March 1, 2020 on the Confucius
Institute Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn). Please log on to find recommendation
institutions and host institutions (the Agency Number of ZJNU is 10345), submit
application documents online, track the application progress, feedback of review and
admission results. Scholarship winners shall confirm with the host institutions to go
through the procedures of studying in China, print out CIS certificate online, and
register at host institutions on the designated date as per the letter of admission.
The application deadlines are
a) April 20th (for programs commencing in July)

b) May 10th (for programs commencing in September)
c) September 10th (for programs commencing in December)
d) November 10th (for programs commencing in March 2020)
Hanban will complete the scholarship review and publish the results three
months before enrollment of the scholarship winners.
V. “Chinese Bridge” Award Recipient Policies
Chinese Bridge winners who have been awarded the 2020 “Confucius Institute
Scholarship Certificate” shall log onto the scholarship website and submit documents
to relevant host institutions upon presentation of their CIS certificates.
VI. Disclaimer
1. Incomplete or unqualified applications will not be processed.
2. Applicants will be disqualified from application in case of fraudulent
application materials or application materials are completed and submitted by
someone else.
3. Scholarship winners who cannot register with the host institutions on time
should inform the host institution about the reasons in written form within 15 days
before the admission date. For those who do not register as requested without reason,
the scholarship will be canceled.
4. Scholarship will be canceled for those who do not pass the admission
physical examination, drop out, or take schooling suspension during the study.

Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship Program
The Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship sponsors students who are
studying at or applying to study at higher education institutions (HEIs) in Zhejiang
Province.
International students who apply to study or are studying in Zhejiang Province
pursuing a bachelor degree, a master degree, a doctoral degree, or as a long-term
general scholar.
1. Values of Scholarship
a. Class A Scholarship:
The Class A Scholarship sponsors students at a rate of 30,000 RMB/person/year.
b. Class B Scholarship:
The Class B Scholarship sponsors students at a rate of 20,000 RMB/person/year.

Sistercity Scholarship of Jinhua Municipal People’s Government
In order to actively put into place of President Xi Jinping’s “Belt and Road”
Initiative, promote the internationalization of Jinhua’s education, attract more foreign
students, enhance their understanding and friendship with Jinhua, and encourage
international students to learn Chinese and Chinese culture, our government has set up
a special scholarship program for overseas students who want to pursue a study in
Jinhua’s local universities, such as Zhejiang Normal University.
The scholarship falls into two categories and different award standards are
adopted:
1. Category A scholarship is intended for excellent students who want to
receive junior college or above education programs in our city with the standard of
RMB 20,000 Yuan per academic year.
2. Category B scholarship is intended for excellent students who want to pursue
