Scholarship Guidelines
The Kalam - Pai, Freeship & Scholars Scholarship seats taken together, is limited to 5% of the general category
intake, and the total scholarship seats program-wise & campus-wise is as follows

1.1 Kalam – Pai Scholarship
2 scholarships each for MBBS & BDS, are for Kalam - Pai Scholarship, is as follows

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
o 80% aggregate of Physics + Chemistry + Biology (as per eligibility criteria) in 10+2 from the recognised
Board
This scholarship involves 100% waiver of Course fee and Hostel fee.
o However, Candidates are required to pay the full first year course fee including refundable Caution
Deposit of Rs. 10,000/- at the time of Reporting / completing the Admission formalities.
o The scholar will have to accept the Hostel allocation (Double attached non AC) by MAHE Manipal. In
case the scholar opts for upgradation of hostel (if available), he / she is required to pay the differential
fee.
o The Scholar MUST take care of other expenses like food, books and other academic material
requirements.
Rs. 5,000 per month will be given to the scholar as sustenance stipend, at the end of each month, for the entire
regular duration of the program on campus (excluding the Internship period).
Scholarships will be offered to the candidate with topmost NEET All India Rank meeting the above mentioned
criteria, who complete the Reporting & Admission formalities in the first round of DGHS / MCC Counseling
o In case of Upgradation / Withdrawal by this Candidate, the scholarship will be awarded to the round 1
admitted candidate with next best rank (meeting the above mentioned criteria) in the same Institution
o In case of scholarship vacancy after considering the admitted student of round 1, scholarship will be
awarded to the candidate based on NEET All India Rank after completion of all rounds of counselling.
o Candidates admitted under Government category (KEA Counseling) are NOT eligible for this scholarship
After due verification, the list of students eligible for Kalam - Pai scholarship will be published / displayed on the
Institute notice boards by 30 Oct 2020. The excess amount paid shall be refunded by 30 Nov 2020.
The award of scholarship for the subsequent years will be same as given at the time of admission in the first
year.

Continuation of scholarship for subsequent years, will be based on academic performance of the student in the
University examinations preceding the due date for payment of fee / dues i.e. Minimum cumulative aggregate
of 65% marks in a system of awarding marks
o Students, who are promoted to next year with failures (F) / Incomplete (I) / Detention (DT) grades, are
NOT eligible for scholarship for that academic year
o Scholarship will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of indiscipline,
bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc.
As the Institute / University does not have the provision to fill the vacant seat after the last date applicable for
resignation as per DGHS / MCC timeline, if the Kalam - Pai scholar resigns / withdraws from the course, he / she
MUST reimburse the total Course fee applicable for entire duration (i.e. Rs. 64,65,000 for 4.5 years for MBBS &
Rs. 27,70,000 for 4 years for BDS) + Hostel fee + Sustenance stipend received for the years of scholarship utilized,
back to MAHE Manipal before leaving the program
1.2 Freeship
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
o 80% aggregate of Physics + Chemistry + Biology (as per eligibility criteria) in 10+2 from the recognised
Board.
The Freeship involves 100% waiver of the course fee payable
o However, Candidates are required to pay the full first year course fee including refundable Caution

MAHE Manipal awards merit scholarships to students admitted under the GENERAL category, to the following programs

o For the following MD programs at KMC Manipal / Mangaluru: 35% of Course Fee
o For the following MDS programs at MCODS Manipal / Mangaluru: 25% of Course Fee

Scholarship will be extended for the subsequent year only to those students who qualifies in the year end
examinations as per MCI / DCI guidelines
o Scholarship will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of indiscipline,
bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc
In case the candidate leaves the course before the course completion (for any reason), he / she MUST reimburse
the total Course fee (as per Prospectus 2020), back to MAHE Manipal

3. FREESHIP, SCHOLAR and ACHIEVER Scholarships for BTech
MAHE Manipal offers Freeship, Scholar and Achiever scholarship to meritorious students admitted to the Bachelor of
Technology (BTech) program at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT)
Scholarship Guidelines
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
o 80% aggregate of Mathematics + Physics + Optional subject (as per selection criteria) in 10+2 from the
recognised Board.
Freeship & Scholar category Scholarships put together, constitutes 5% of the GENERAL category intake for each
branch and is applicable for the entire program duration, starting 1st year of the program
Achiever category Scholarship constitutes 5% of the general category intake for each branch and is applicable
at the beginning of 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year based on the annual academic performance of the immediate
previous year i.e. 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year.
o There will be NO scholarship based on the performance in the final year.

3.1 Freeship
The rank range and the scholarship seats for the various BTech specializations for Freeship is as shown in Table

The Freeship scholarship involves 100% of the Course fee payable
o Candidates are required to pay the full first year course fee including refundable Caution Deposit of Rs.
10,000 before the deadline specified for payment of full first year fee.

o Candidates admitted under Freeship category will have to take care of other expenses such as hostel
accommodation, food, books etc.
Scholarships will be offered to the candidate with topmost MET rank in the respective branch who complete
the admission formalities in the first round BTech common Counseling.
o In case of withdrawal / upgradation during rounds 2 – 5, scholarship will be awarded as per merit (MET
rank) to round 1 admitted candidates (same branch / upgraded from other branch) and as per
scholarship vacancy after completion of all rounds of counselling.
In case of scholarship vacancy after considering the admitted students of round 1, this
scholarship(s) will be awarded to the candidate(s) based on MET rank after completion of all
rounds of counselling.
o The candidates opting for only waitlisting during 1st round of Counseling are NOT eligible for these
scholarships.

“Achiever” Scholarship constitutes Top 5% of the general category intake (excluding Freeship & Scholar
scholarship students) for each branch and is applicable at the beginning of 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year based
on the annual academic performance of the immediate previous year i.e. 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year as
mentioned below. Transfer students are NOT eligible for this scholarship in the year of admission.

o Merit list will be prepared after the declaration of re-evaluation results of regular end semester

CGPA
o In case of students with the same annual CGPA, the tie will be broken using the following criteria
No. of subjects with maximum number of A+ / ≥ 90% of marks
No. of subjects with maximum number of A / ≥ 80% marks
Student with best aggregate attendance percentage
o There will be NO scholarship based on the performance in the final year.
The Achiever scholarship involves 20% waiver of the course fee
o The Candidates admitted under Achiever category will have to take care of other expenses such as
hostel accommodation, food, books etc
In addition,
o Scholarship eligible students, who are promoted to next year with failures (F) / Incomplete (I) /
Detention (DT) grades, will NOT be eligible for scholarship for that academic year.
o Scholarships will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of
indiscipline, bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc.
In case the Achiever category scholar leaves the course before the course completion (for any reason), he / she
MUST reimburse the total course fee for the years of scholarship utilized, back to MAHE Manipal

4. Freeship, Scholars and Achiever Scholarship for BPharm
MAHE Manipal offers Freeship, Scholar and Achiever scholarship to meritorious students admitted to the Bachelor of
Pharmacy (BPharm) program at Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS)
Scholarship Guidelines
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
o 80% in Chemistry + Physics + Biology / Mathematics in 12th from the recognised Board.
Freeship & Scholar category Scholarships put together, constitute 5% of the general category intake and is
applicable for the entire program duration, starting 1st year of the program
Achiever category Scholarship constitute 5% of the general category intake (excluding Freeship & Scholar
scholarship students) and is applicable from the beginning of 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year based on the annual
academic performance in the immediate previous year i.e. 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year.
o There will be NO scholarship based on the performance in the final year.

The rank range and the scholarship seats for the BPharm for Freeship category is as shown in Table above
The Freeship scholarship involves 100% of the Course fee payable

10,000 at the time of Counseling.
o The Candidates admitted under Freeship category will have to take care of other expenses such as
hostel accommodation, food, books etc.
Scholarships will be offered to the candidate with topmost MET rank who complete the Reporting & Admission
formalities in the BPharm Counseling.
o In case of withdrawal, scholarship will be awarded as per merit to the admitted candidates during
physical counselling and as per scholarship vacancy
o The candidates opting for only waitlisting during 1st round of Counseling are NOT eligible for this
scholarship.
After due verification, the list of students eligible for Freeship category scholarship will be displayed / published
on the Institute notice boards by 30 Aug 2020. The excess amount paid shall be refunded by 30 Sept 2020.

Scholarship Guidelines
The minimum intake of the program MUST be 10
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
o Under Graduate (UG) program: 80% (as per selection criteria) in 10+2 from a recognised Board.
o Post Graduate (PG) program: 70% aggregate in Under Graduate (UG) from a recognised University.
For the Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) Programs with Manipal Entrance Test (MET), MET Rank
will be used for the allotment of Scholarship provided the candidate satisfies the above mentioned minimum
eligibility criteria for Scholarship.
Scholar category
o Scholar Scholarships constitutes 5% of the GENERAL category intake for each branch / program and is
applicable for the entire program duration, starting 1st year of the program
Achiever category
o Achiever Scholarship constitutes 5% of the GENERAL category intake for each branch / program is
applicable at the beginning of 2nd year, 3rd year, 4th year and 5th year based on the annual academic
performance in the immediate previous year i.e. 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year depending
on the Program duration.

5.1 Scholar
The Scholar scholarship involves 20% waiver of the Course fee
o Candidates are required to pay the full first year course fee including refundable Caution Deposit of
Rs. 10,000 at the time of Counseling / Admission.
o The Candidates admitted under the Scholars category will have to take care of other expenses such as
hostel accommodation, food, books etc
Scholarships will be offered to the candidate with topmost Manipal Merit Rank / MET Rank who complete the
admission process
o In case of students with the same CGPA or Percentage of marks, the tie will be broken using the
following criteria
Date of submission of Application (Candidate who submitted the Online application first will be given
preference)
o In case of withdrawal / upgradation (wherever applicable), scholarship will be awarded as per Manipal
Merit Rank / MET Rank and as per scholarship vacancy before the finalization of “Scholar” list
o The candidates opting for only waitlisting are NOT eligible for these scholarships
After due verification, the list of students eligible for Scholar category scholarship will be published on the
institute notice boards by 30 Sept 2020. The excess amount paid shall be refunded by 30 Oct 2020.
The award of scholarship for the subsequent years will be same as given at the time of admission in the first
year.
Continuation of scholarship for subsequent years will be based on academic performance of the students in
the University examinations preceding the due date for payment of fee / dues as per the following criteria

at the beginning of 2nd year, 3rd year, 4th year and 5th year based on the annual academic performance in
the immediate previous year i.e. 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year depending on the Program duration
as mentioned below.

MAHE Manipal awards Board Toppers Scholarship to all Under Graduate (UG) Programs, for candidates from State /
CBSE / ISC / IB / Cambridge / Edexcel boards, during their 12th standard examinations.

12. Scholarship for Konkani Speaking Students
MAHE Manipal waives 10% of the course fee to all students admitted under the general category, to all under
graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) programs, whose mother tongue is Konkani
Scholarship Guidelines
Candidates must submit the following documents
o Letter from the passing out School Principal / Institute Director certifying that mother tongue is
Konkani
o Filled up scholarship form
12.1 Scholarship for Konkani Speaking Students
The fee waiver is 10% of the course fee
o Candidates are required to pay the full first year course fee + Rs. 10,000 refundable Caution Deposit
at the time of Reporting
o The candidate will have to take care of other expenses such as hostel accommodation, food, books
etc.
The excess amount paid shall be refunded by 30 Sept 2020
The award of Fee Waiver for the subsequent years will be same as given at the time of admission in the first
year
o Fee Waiver will be extended in the subsequent year only to those students who have cleared all
subjects in the University Examinations of previous year before the due date for payment of annual
course fee
o Students, who are promoted to next year with failures (F) / Incomplete (I) / Detention (DT) grades,
will NOT be eligible for fee waiver for that academic year
o The fee waiver will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of
indiscipline, bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc
In case the candidate leaves the course before the course completion (for any reason), he / she MUST
reimburse the total course fee for the years of scholarship utilized, back to MAHE Manipal

13. Merit Scholarship for Children of MAHE Manipal Alumni
(Except for PG Medical / Dental, Super Specialty programs)
MAHE Manipal awards merit scholarships to all students admitted under the GENERAL category, for all under
graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) programs, whose father or mother has studied (Fulltime) and graduated from
the MAHE Manipal Institutions (refer Annexure C)
Scholarship Guidelines
Applicable for Students admitted under GENERAL category only
The fee waiver is NOT applicable to PG Medical / Dental, Super specialty Programs
Eligibility Requirements
o Under Graduate (UG) program: 80% aggregate (as per selection criteria) in 12th
o Post Graduate (PG) program: 70% aggregate in Under Graduate (UG)
Candidate’s Father / Mother Should have studied & graduated in UG program (minimum 3 year’s) / PG
program (minimum 2 years) / Super specialty (minimum 2 years) / PhD program (including part time) from
any one of MAHE Manipal Institutions (refer Annexure C)
The Parent has to register under Alumni portal (https://manipalalumni.manipal.edu/) before Scholarship
application submission
Details / Documentation Requirements
o Provide Father’s / Mother’s Education qualification details like Roll No, Program at the time of
applying. Submit / Upload all year / semester mark cards and Degree certificate.
o Submit / Upload any one of the Government Photo ID proof like Aadhaar, PAN Card, Passport, Driving
License of the parent.
Scholarship would be provided to maximum of 2 children's only

14. Scholarship Scheme Of Interest Subsidy On Education Loan For MAHE Students
MAHE Manipal offers interest subsidy on education loan as scholarship, to the eligible students who joined various
under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) programs offered at MAHE. The scholarship is in the form of providing
‘Interest subsidy’ by partial reimbursement of the interest on education loan availed by them from banks. This
scholarship scheme is applicable to the following category of students only
Particulars
1 Konkani Speaking Students
2 Students who have joined under graduate (UG) Programs (MBBS, BDS, BTech, BPharm) in the
Academic Year 2014 – 15 & onwards, and have been awarded merit-cum-means scholarship
3 Students who have joined any under graduate (UG) program under the SAGES scheme in the
Academic Year 2014 – 15 & onwards
4 Employee’s children and / spouse who have joined various UG & PG programs in the Academic
Year 2014 – 15 & onwards, and who have availed scholarship from Manipal Foundation
Eligibility Guidelines
A student can avail the benefit of scholarship under the Scheme during the term of his / her study.
Loan shall be availed from a nationalized / scheduled bank for payment of course fee prescribed for the course.
Loan availed for payment of repeat term (casual term) fee will NOT qualify for the scheme.
The benefits under the Scheme will NOT be extended to students in instances of irregularity in attendance, poor
academic performance, proven charges of indiscipline and failure in the examination.
MAHE reserves the right to prescribe the eligibility norms of academic performance for each course
The eligible loan for interest subsidy shall be the amount equivalent to the accumulated course fee already paid
by the student to MAHE for the respective academic years
The fee shall be reduced by the subsidies (if any) provided by MAHE in the form of fee concessions as per Table
below

15. AICTE SCHOLARSHIPS
All India Council for technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi awards scholarships for deserving and meritorious students
15.1 AICTE Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme for BTech Students
AICTE has introduced the scheme on tuition fee (course fees includes tuition and other fees) waiver for economically
weaker students, enrolled to BTech @ Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT)
AICTE Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Guidelines
The proposed scheme will be applicable only to the students with parents’ annual income (from all sources)
less than Rs. 8 lakhs (or as specified by AICTE) for the Assessment year 2020 - 21
AICTE TFW seats will NOT exceed 5% of the General intake for each branch
On completion of the 1st round of BTech counseling, candidates will be communicated separately regarding
the process of applying for AICTE TFW scheme
At the time of application submission, candidate’s parents (Mother & Father) should submit self-attested
photocopy of the Income Tax (IT) return form for Assessment Year 2020 - 21 for proof of parents’ income.
o If the parent(s) are working abroad, they shall submit copy of the 12 month’s salary slip (April 2019
to March 2020) along with Passport and Employment Visa details
After due verification, the list of students eligible for AICTE TFW will be communicated to all the candidates
via email and candidates are expected to confirm the allotted seat within the timeline by paying the stipulated
fee
The fee waiver awarded for the 1st year, will remain the same for the subsequent years
The AICTE scholarship will cover only the tuition fee payable for the particular course of study and will NOT
cover the expenses such as hostel accommodation, books etc.
As the number of scholarship has been considered based on the intake of the particular BTech branch, if any
student changes the branch in the second year then he / she is NOT eligible for continuation of the scholarship
from 2nd year onwards.
15.2 AICTE Post Graduate (PG) Scholarships
Master of Technology (MTech)
In pursuance of the policy framework for promotion of Post Graduate (PG) education and research in
Engineering & Technology of MHRD, AICTE provides financial assistance to the Graduate Aptitude Test in
Engineering (GATE) qualified students, enrolled for the MTech program offered by Manipal Institute of
Technology (MIT).
Master of Pharmacy (MPharm)
In pursuance of the policy framework for promotion of Post Graduate (PG) education and research in
Engineering & Technology of MHRD, AICTE provides financial assistance to the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude
Test (GPAT) qualified students, enrolled for the MPharm program offered by Manipal College of
Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS)

16. KADAMBI SCHOLARSHIP
The Kadambi family have instituted an endowment fund from which scholarships are given to students who have
demonstrated excellence in sports (with the exception of cricket) at the State or National level. Two scholarships of
Rs. 30,000 each, are awarded to final year students of Medical (MBBS) / Dental (BDS) and Engineering (BTech), good
in both academics and sports
17. ITC SCHOLARSHIP
ITC Hotels Ltd has also instituted scholarship worth Rs. 3.5 lakhs to the Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) students
at Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), excelling in operational subjects and for the best
all round graduating students
Note
A student is eligible to avail only 1 scholarship, at any point in time
All scholarship eligible students are required to apply for the scholarship via scholarship Application form.
All scholarship eligible students are required to open a bank account to which the scholarship amount will be
disbursed
All the Scholarship schemes are governed by the policies and regulations of Manipal Academy of Higher
