9:30 AM People of Our Parish
From Our Pastor:In the Gospel of Saint Luke (10:25-37) this Sunday, Jesus tells us about the two great
Commandments, love of God and love of neighbor, and about a man who fell victim to robbers who stripped and beat him and left him half-dead A priest and Levite passed by the man, possibly thinking that he was already dead But a Samaritan was “moved with compassion” upon seeing the man and “treated him with mercy” And then Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, commands us to “go and do likewise” In light of this Gospel passage, Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD) refers to Jesus Christ as the Samaritan:
That Samaritan of ours, namely Jesus Christ, whom the Jews called a Samaritan, which means Guardian, took pity on him when He was passing the same way, that is when Jesus had come in the flesh as the Just One to die for sinners. He lifted the man up from the ground, and placed him on His own mount; and carrying him like a straying sheep on His own shoulders into paradise, from which he had fallen, He called him back into the hundred, that is into the perfect number. “For He it is,” as the prophet says, “that has borne our sins and has grieved for us” (Isaiah 53:4). Now say, Man, seated on the mount of the Lord’s mercy, on the shoulders of the Lord’s love, say as, being known yourself, you recognize your Creator and Lord, say, “The Lord is my guide.” Which of course you couldn’t say, lying there, unless you had been picked up by the Lord. So it’s the One who is carrying you that is your guide. After all, when you say, “The Lord is my guide,” no proper grounds are left for you to trust in yourself.
And so you must beware of ever becoming conceited about your own merits. You didn’t have any, after all, when the Lord came to pick you up. In fact, He found you naked, without any clothes; He found you beaten up, not in good health; He found you lying on the ground, not standing on your own feet; He discovered you straying, not returning on your own… You see, when you say in a spirit of fear, as you walk in innocence, “the Lord is my guide,” you will confidently be able to add, “and I will lack nothing” since “nothing is lacking for those who fear Him” (Psalm 34:9-10), and “the Lord will not deprive of good things those who walk in innocence” (Psalm 84:11-12).
May we allow ourselves to be guided by God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in our daily life May we heed God’s call to love Him with all our being and our neighbor as ourselves so that He would bring us to life eternal in Heaven (Luke 10:25-37) May we strive, by God’s grace, to imitate Jesus Christ and be the good Samaritans that He calls us to be – instruments of His mercy and compassion, living in our words and deeds the virtues of faith, hope and love
With peace and prayers in Christ,Fr. William

SAINT CLEMENT SCHOOL
Attention Servers & Lectors! Your new schedules are available in the sacristy
LAC FOOD PANTRY NEWS!Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday, June 29, to
help move the LAC Food Pantry from its previous “home” in the Lancaster Congregational Church to its new location at the Jim Hoehl Outreach Center! It was terrific seeing so many people of all ages, and from the different churches, working together that morning to assist with this move With so much help, the move was finished in under 3 hours (including taking down shelves at the church) One real asset of being in the new Outreach Center, which was very apparent in the move, is that there will be no more stairs to climb, for those moving food downstairs into the pantry, and for patrons taking the food upstairs Everything now will be on one level, making the process so much faster and easier The Jim Hoehl Outreach Center is located in the old WE Energies building across the street from the Lancaster Fire Department This building has become the new home of the LAC Food Pantry, as well as the LIFE Program and the Grant County Holiday Project, both of which became displaced because of the construction of the new county jail and Social Services building near Orchard Manor The LAC Food Pantry began serving clients on Monday, July 1, out of its new location, and the LIFE Program has been doing so since April The Holiday Project is consistently moving their items in for distribution in December
Many people and businesses in the community and from our parish and other churches have been instrumental in the renovation of the building over the past months The LAC and the Holiday Project want to thank everyone for all the work they have done to transform the building into a very user-friendly space for both clients and volunteers There will be an Open House on Sunday, August 18 from 1-3 PM, so mark your calendars!
OPPORTUNITIES TO SHARE YOUR TREASURE OF TIME
Our parish offers many opportunities to share your treasure of time, including: assist with funeral dinners (both women and men); and assist the priest by bringing the residents for Masses on Wednesday mornings at the Orchard Manor and Lancaster Care Center nursing homes If you are able and willing to share your time, please call the parish office at 608-723-4990
SOUTHWESTERN WISCONSIN COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM, INC (SWCAP) SURVEY
SWCAP, an area anti-poverty agency, is currently conducting a Community Needs survey to target services and bring funding into this rural area of Wisconsin Please complete a survey online at http://wwwsurveymonkeycom/r/73Q522D, before July 15, 2019 Your feedback is important!
SPECIAL PRAYER SERVICE WITH OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE SILVER ROSE
The Knights of Columbus’ Silver Rose, which will be presented to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico, on December 12th, on her feast day, will visit St Clement on Sunday, July 21st at 3 pm for you to unite your thanks and your petitions with the Blessed Virgin Mary! Bring your family Bring your friends With the problems and challenges that we have in our country, we should fill the church!
IT’S GOOD TO GET AWAY…Yes, it is good to get away for a day or two, or to go on a longer
vacation to renew oneself and to spend time with family and friends On your weekend outings, be sure to remember the importance of thanking God, our Creator, for the creation and recreation you’ll be enjoying Remember to make Sunday worship part of your vacation, as it too is a way that we “get away” from our daily routine to hear the Word of God and to be nourished with our Lord in the Eucharist If you don’t know where to find a local Catholic church, go to the website wwwmasstimesorg to find nearby parishes and their Mass times
