The Captain and his assistant were in charge of sailing the vessel
Pilots plotted the course of the shipUsing the newly discovered navigational instruments.
Ship’s surgeon and surgeon’s assistant!
We often have to remove lead bullets amputate limbs!!

I am the Comptroller and I keep accurate records of all accounts on the ship
I am the Gentle Volunteer, the King’s butler, and in the future I will report on everything to His
Majesty
We are the secretary and marshal and we write the accounts of everything that happens.
I am am the interpreter, fluent in Hebrew and Latin. I hope they speak languages I know where we are going!
I am a copper and keep the barrels and anything that uses metal in good condition.
I am a carpenter and I keep things in good order.

I am the assistant steward. I watch the boys and keep the firewood dry and help the Steward with the ships stores.
He makes sure that all leaks are stopped. Where would we be without him?
I’m the silversmith and this is the caulker
We are average seamen and we don’t have a lot of experience at sea yet. We get all the hard jobs like tending the sails.

We are ordinary seaman. We work hard, setting the sails and working at the lowest point on the ship.
We all sleep on the deck. The waves often wash over us and it is cold! There is not much room here.
The ship looked big when we laid it out, but now that we are all lying on the deck – it is crowded.
If you are an officer you can sleep on the poop deck out of the waves!
