Somebody's essential self: the set of characteristics that

somebody recognizes as belonging uniquely to himself or

herself and constituting his or her individual personality for life

AIESEC’s IDENTITY

VISION What is the base

of the organisation,

our underlying paradigm, our

General direction?

VISION Far off,

untouchable, unattainable.

Something that we will always be striving for. The ultimate goal.

VISION

Peace and Fulfillment of Humankind's

Potential.

Why do we exist?

No matter what changes take place in the world, what is the unchanging

reason that we are here as an organisation?

AIESEC 2005

A Snapshot or Mission Statement of what AIESEC will look like in the close future. Shows us concretely what to aim for as an organisation.

AIESEC 2005

“We are the leading global network of young people developing socially responsible, entrepreneurial, culturally sensitive, active learners who are the proactive leaders of change. We connect young people globally to help our World become a better place through realising 10,000 international traineeship exchanges as the core of any learning experience. We ensure the quality of our exchanges through the creation of integrated learning processes around our traineeships. Our alumni are demonstrating positive leadership society to drive change and our stakeholders recognise the great value that AIESEC brings to their organisation in facilitating their activities. Our members are acting upon the purpose and values of the organisation and they are committed and skilled, to enable the organisation to fulfil it’s role globally”.

Vast amount of different possibilities for personal and professional development.

Exercise 1:

This is all very well…

But what does it mean?

All 4 characteristics are quite common

qualities to posses – but what do they

mean?

Active Learner

Cultural Sensitive

Entrepreneurial

Social Responsible

Consider these 4 persons who each posess 1 of the 4 characteristics:

What type of persons could they be? – describe and come up with some examples.

Discuss in groups of 6

What would be the qualities this person has from this characteristic? What does it provide?

Consider a person who posesses all these characteristics.

What would be the synergy effects? What qualities would it provide the person with?

Why has the organisation chosen to focus on these 4 change agent characteristics as

opposed to hundreds of other characteristics?

“We connect young people globally to help our world become a

better place…”

Why do we use exchange as the tool of our activity? What are the benifits of this

compared to other tools we could build our learning around?

Exercise 2:

Split into groups of 6:

Why do we use exchange as the tool of our activity?

What are the benifits of this compared to other tools we could build our learning

around? (In relation to being a platform for facilitating change agent

characteristics)

Split into 2 subgroups:

Each subgroup takes the role of each of these interestgroups: • Alumni • University

They have lost faith in the fact that exchange is the most efficient for facilitating learning in respect to creating change agent characteristics. What would be their arguments? What could be the alternative?

Challenge this!

Come back in the groups:

List the arguments and alternatives the interestgroups have made.

Counter argue!

Sum up and get ready to present for the plenary…

Why do we use exchange as the tool of our activity? Why is this the best platform for creating

change agent characteristics?

“…We ensure the quality of all our activities

through the creation of integrated learning

processes around our traineeships.”

“ ...Our alumni are demonstrating positive leadership in society…”

What can an organisation do to serve as the best possible platform for personal and professional

development? What structures would need to be in place?

How can AIESEC be the best possible platform for facilitating learning in regards to the Change

Agent characteristics?
