WELCOME PARENTS!!!

www.RNE3rd.weebly.com

If you have questions concerning

the following information, please

ask the teachers once you travel to

their rooms after the presentation!

Feel free to take notes—but all of

the information will be available on

our grade level website as well!

Meet the Team!!!

New this Year!

Bear TimeBear Time will be a time to

review skills students need

additional help with and to

create enriching activities to

reinforce skills.

7:45-8:15 Daily

Behavior Plan - Checkbook

We have a checkbook banking

system where the students can

earn “money” for good

behavior and money can also

be deducted for less than

desirable behaviors. This is a

great program that teaches

accountability, money skills,

and learning how to balance a

checkbook. Students will have

the opportunity to purchase

experiences with their money.

Birthdays and Snacks

Snack is during 2nd block. Please send

healthy snacks! We have an EARLY lunch

time—please send a substantial snack .

For birthdays, you may send in foodless

treats such as pencils, small goodie bags

etc…. No invitations may be handed out at

school unless the entire class is invited.

We have MANY food allergies!

Absences/Tardies

Students must have written notice to be excused (NO TEXTS). *you may email as a BACKUP, but only written notes will be documented.

Absences are considered excused when the student is ill, at the doctor or dentist, or if there is a death in the family.

Please take extra caution about sending your child to school if they are complaining of illness.

We don’t want to spread illness!!!

Transportation

Transportation changes must be made before 9am the day of the change for safety reasons (unless it is an emergency-call the front office).

ANY changes must be in writing (NO EMAIL) Please write a note and include: the date

the child’s full name

Homeroom teacher’s name

how they are getting home on that day.

Also remember to call the day care center if the child will not be attending on a specific day.

VOLUNTEERFulton County’s policy for anyone volunteering anywhere within the school; classroom, Media Center, or on field trips is all volunteers must

complete the Child Abuse Reporting Protocol for Volunteers slideshow. This must be done prior to you arriving at the school. The protocol only takes

minutes but it can take up to 48 hours for your registration to be completely processed by Fulton County. Once you receive confirmation that the

registration is complete, you will only then be able to volunteer at Roswell North.

Follow this Link to complete the process!http://www.fultonschools.org/en/divisions/sup/comm/Pa

as a resource and model

Why Units of Study?

Children who leave school today

without strong literacy skills will

no longer find a job waiting for

them! We must raise the rigor of

our work with writers.

Grade specific and CC/GSE

aligned

The Pathway Along Which

Young Writers Progress

Learner needs to do the bulk of the work. Think of

what a personal trainer does for a client. Should

they be doing the practice? The learner needs to

write, and write A LOT.

It is the teachers job to move each individual

toward more and more proficiency.

Teaching writing is not about waiting for children to

grow on their own. It is about knowing

Where a child is in a learning progression, and what comes next

Taking them through the gradual release of responsibility

model, with feedback along the way

Bottom Lines For Effective

Writing Instruction

Writers must write EVERYDAY

Volume Matters

The teacher is the facilitator, not the fixer

Messy should be the assumption

Writers need an audience

Engagement matters

Writers need to cycle through the process

Homework

Please check/sign agendas every night

Incomplete classwork is HW

Each student should be responsible for his/her own work

Students absent from school are required to make up missed assignments and return them to class. They are allotted one day for each day of the excused absence to make up the work. (ie- if you miss 5 days, you have 5 days to complete the makeup work)

Grading Scale

A 100-90%

B 89-80%

C 79-70%

F 69 and below

NOTE: Recovery is offered to on-level

students ONLY on assessments after re-

teaching. The highest grade achievable

on recovery is a 70.

Home Access

If you need a home access number,

please see the office sometime in

the near future. Every parent must

sign individually for it. This is a

great way to keep up with your

student’s grades.

Friday Papers

Graded Papers will usually be sent every other Friday in Friday Folders

Be sure to go through papers with your child and then return the papers signed on Monday.

Sometimes your child will bring an interactive notebook home to show you their progress and have you sign.

Parent/Teacher Communication

Please address any issues or concerns with the teacher first. Check our website for contact information!

www.RNE3rd.weebly.com

Look for notes in agendas, Friday folders, or on cover pages for signed papers.

DO NOT hesitate to contact us: Typically, email is the best way to get in touch and we can then give you a call or email—whichever you desire!

Please remember that during the day, we will not always get back to you right away as we are busy teaching all students. We will respond within 24 hours.

Conferences

Conferences will be held on October 11, 2016

Sign up for any teacher your child has on

our website (It will be available after the

new class is opened and schedules are

finalized!)

We will alert you to the sign ups as soon as

they are available!

Signup Genius and Bloomz will be utilized

for 3rd grade conferences this year.
