Spurs

• These are used if you have a stubborn for encouragement to make them do what you want them to do!

Bucking strap

• You use a bucking strap if your horse bucks a lot so you can hold on or if you need it to keep more of your center balance!

Saddles

• The saddle is what you sit on when you ride!• There are four different types of saddle

English, western, saddle seat, sidesaddle English Side saddle Western

Pants to ride in

• You can use riding breeches or jeans, most people use riding breeches because it’s the proper apparel to ride in.

• The pants HAVE to be leg length

• You need to wear riding boots you can have the tall show boots or the low cut paddock boots. The best brands to get are Ariat, Saxon, and Dublin!

Chaps

• If you ware short paddock boots you need to where chaps

• Chaps give you extra grip and leg protection you can get them in either swaid or leather!

Helmets

• When you get a helmet you should look inside the helmet and see if it is SEI approved. That means the helmet can withstand the pressure if you hit your head if you ever fall off! They come in all different varieties!

Lunge line

• If you have a crazy hipper horse, you may want to lunge him/her before you ride so some of their energy is out before you get on. This can also be used so if you don’t have enough time to ride you can lunge your horse for 20 min.

Saddle pads

They have MANY different colors, shapes, and designs! You can even personalize them!

These go under the saddle to make the saddle fit better onto the horse.

Protection

• When you go cross-country you should wear a chest protector.

• This will protect you heart, ribs, and lungs if you fall

Leg protection for horses

• Horses wear leg wraps to protect their legs, especially when doing and type of jumps

• They have polo wraps and splint boots

With the polo wraps you have to wrap onto the horses legs

With splint boots you velcro them onto the horse.

They have different protection for front and back legs
