REPORT ON NSS SPECIAL CAMP (RESIDENTIAL)
HELD AT VILLAGE – MOHA, NASHIK
NSS unit of Ashoka Center for Business and Computer Studies, Nashik (D-SF-112)
organized a special camp in the village Moha from 06-01-2019 to 12-01-2019. This special
camp was organised with the help of Gram Panchayat Department of Moha & Ashoka
College of Education (ACE).The Volunteers of the NSS unit performed many other activities
– Rain water harvesting, awareness programmes as literacy, health and hygiene, construction
and repairs, communal harmony, etc.
OBJECTIVES OF EVENT:
(i) Making education more relevant to the present situation to meet the felt needs of the
communities and supplement the education of college students by bringing them face to face
with the community situation.
(ii) To provide opportunities to students to play their due roles in the implementation of
various development "programmes by planning and executing development projects, which
not only help in creating durable community assets in rural areas, but also result in
improvement of the condition of weaker sections of the communities.
(iii) Encouraging the students and non-students youth to work along with the adults in rural
areas, thereby developing their character, social consciousness and commitment, discipline
and healthy and helpful attitudes towards the community:
(iv) Building up potential youth leaders by exploring the latent potential among the campers,
both students as well as local youth (rural and urban), with a view to involve them more
intimately in development projects for longer periods.
(v) Encouraging youth to participate enthusiastically in the process of national development,
and promote national integration through democratic living and cooperative action.
Day – 1: Sunday, 06.01.2019
The session of the Day began with a Procession by volunteers in the village. Volunteers
rallied into the streets of the village to create awareness among the villagers about the
ensuing special camp programme in their village for a period of one week.
This was followed by an inauguration Program held at Maruti Temple of Village.
The programme was started with pouring water to tree a symbol of conserving nature and
NSS song.
The chief guest of ceremony Mr.Wasudeo Bhende Administrator AEF, Mr.Bodke Sarpanch
Moha village, 10 villagers with NSS program officer Prof.Lokesh Surana, Dr.Manisha
Shirsath, Prof.Alpana Sonje, Prof.Archana Zambare, Prof.Yogesh Marathe
The inaugural speech was delivered by dignitaries, emphasised the role of NSS in the
community service. Importance of cleanliness & use of water. Sarpanch of the Village and
several village people attended the function. Village authorities welcomed the team of
Volunteers into their village and assured them all sorts of co-operation needed in making the
special camp a success. During the Afternoon of the First Day Volunteers interacted with
Village people and visited the people in their houses discussed about their needs and
requirements and harms in the village. Volunteers created awareness through door to door
campaign on cleanliness, spread of diseases, importance of environment, cleanliness and
agriculture.
Students visited Khandoba tekdi, for site visit for rain water harvesting technique to be used.
Agriculture officer Mr.Sonawane guided students & decided to make continuous counter
trenches CCT. After taking dinner volunteers discussed the project agenda and activities with
NSS programme officer, before going into the bed volunteers sang the NSS song.
Day – 2: Monday, 07.01.2019
In the dawn of the second Day, students woke early morning at 05.30 a.m. & yoga exercise
were performed. Students were divided in groups & were assigned routine tasks on rotational
basis. Like food preparation, cleaning of utensils, waking to all students, etc.
At 08.30 a.m. all students were taken to khadoba tekdi, & marking for CCT was made &
schedule of 03 days was prepared to complete CCT.
Post Lunch in afternoon session in maruti temple, Lecture was arranged of Mrs.Sushma
Mankar, from Pani Foundation on topic of Rain water harvesting, CCT technique. Session
provided input to students on methodology & importance of CCT. Also video were shown to
students.
At evening, student’s volunteers cleaned the village roads, removed dust heaps and attempted
to create awareness on Cleanliness and hygiene.
Day – 3: Tuesday, 08.01.2019
Third day began with Prabhat ferri (Morning walk)
From 08.30 a.m. students started kshramdan at tekdi, on CCT projects. Digging work was
started of 5 CCT of 5 team members. 3 teams started collecting stones around the vicinity &
prepare chain to bring all stones at one place.
Post lunch, Motivational lecture of Mr.Prakash Khole, Chairman Manavdhan Education
foundation was organised in Maruti temple mentioning his journey of life. Thoughts and
ideas were exchanged on Leadership quality and Team Spirit and importance of collective
responsibility in achieving common goals of community service.
After dinner, in evening some fun & learn memory games were organised by students.
Day – 4: Wednesday,09.01.2019
Fourth day began with Kshramdan at Tekdi, as per schedule it was last day of CCT
preparation & students were enthusiastic in completion of task. The finishing work was in
progress. Before lunch time students completed all 05 CCT.
The Forenoon Session of fourth day began creation of environment Social Message.
Volunteers prepared various posters of social message on Education importance, women
foeticide, cleanliness, Educating girls, etc.
In the evening session Lecture was organised of Mr.Jayant Dixit, Director swami
Vivekananda kendra on the topic of message of Vivekananda to today’s youth. Students got
highly motivated from thoughts of Vivekananda & understood the importance of tolerance &
self control.
Day 04 ended with satisfaction of actual construction of CCT project through which they can
percolate 75000 litres of rain water in earth.
Day – 5 : Thursday,10.01.2019
Importance of cleanliness was main theme of day 5, students post breakfast took rally in
village & displayed charts made by them highlighting social messages. Students took a drive
in village by enchanting slogans on it.They visited various home & interacted with villagers
& cleaning activities were done.
The fifth day of the camp was full of events, in afternoon post lunch session was organised of
Mr.Vilas Deshmukh, Principal Social work college. He focused on topic of social work &
we. He also emphasised on importance of social work in educating a generation.
On the same day, Hon. Chairman of AEF Mr.Ashokji Katariya gave a visit to NSS camp &
interacted with students to know their reflections & learning point. Various students shared
their experiences encountered in last 04 days & highlighted new points learned. He also
visited at tekdi & appreciated the work done by students.
At evening, NSS area coordinator Prof.Shamin Shaikh visited with group of their college
students & interacted with our students. Students also performed street play on topic of
importance of social work & issues faced by society.
Day 05, ended with review of students & dumpsharts, anatakshari activities.
Day – 6 : Friday, 11.01.2019
Sixth day was devoted for health & school students. Students started day with yoga exercise
& meditation. Lecture was organised of Mr.Ajit Tikke, President, Marathi Vigyan Parishad,
Nashik branch, on topic Gandhian philosophy for Prosperous India.
After the Lunch Break the service was continued till evening. NSS volunteers also discussed
with village people about the avoidance of open defecation & addiction to alcohol.A stret
play was conducted by students in the village & School. It was also felt that a sense of
awareness is arsing in the community.
In the following Session, a Personality Development Programme was organized for ZP
school students. A full length discussion was initiated and Faculty Members joined in the
programme. A Brain storming session was organized. Lectures & activities were conducted
for school students and even school campus was decorated by painting trees, walls, vicinity
area.
The Volunteers discussed & decided to identify those children who are not enrolled in the
Primary school. They decided to make a door to door contact with the village people. They
also decided to take a class in the primary school for awareness. At evening volunteers took
sanskar shibir and bone fire.
Day – 7 : Saturday,12.01.2019
The seventh day was the closing day of the camp. The valedictory was planned with a
motivational Street play on ill-effects of addiction (Vyasan mukti) by students. At 03 places
identified by students Street play was organised for which excellent response was received
from villagers.
Valedictory session was organised in the presence of Sarpanch Mr.Bodke, vice president
krushi utpana bazaar samitte Sinnar Mr.Bhise, Mrs.Asha katariya wife of Hon.chairman AEF,
Dr.D.M.Gujarathi Principal, Vice Principal & faculty members of Ashoka Center for
Business & Computer Studies. It commenced with lighting lamp to swami vivekanand & Jija
mata on occasion of their jayanti.
Speech of Principal was arranged on topic “Live Happy”, Sarpanch gave his review &
appreciated the work done by students during the camp period. Individual feedback from
students were made, narrating their experience of NSS camp life at village.
Students got highly sensitive with attachment they developed with village environment in this
seven days. Session concluded with formal vote of Thanks by NSS Program officer.
NSS camp was concluded by NSS song & National Anthem.
