Sign Language Class Sign Language Students graduated and they received certificates at the graduation ceremony.
Provide sign language classes – (Basic and Advanced)
Teaching sign language every Mondays and Wednesdays for 6months. Time: 5.30pm – 7pm. Five teachers who are deaf.
SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETING SERVICE
Deaf students at mainstream high school with an Interpreter.
Students enjoyed learning with the availability of an interpreter.
Access Interpreting service provide in Hospital, Court, workshop, meeting etc.
Deaf Women We went for sports fun day and we involved hearing people too during the day.
We attended a workshop on ‘Women
with Disabilities’ in Fiji.
We attended a workshop on ‘Women Crisis Centre’ where we learn more issues on family life, being abused by husband or other men.
A Deaf woman attended a conference
in Philippines on ‘Disabled People International’ early this year on February, 2009.
A deaf woman attended a conference
in Slovakia on ‘International Sports Committee’.
A deaf woman attended a conference in Nadi Hosted by ‘Pacific Disability Forum’ on Capacity Building.
A deaf woman volunteered to be a
‘Care Giver’ to a disabled woman at the ‘Fiji Disabled Persons Association’.
SIGN LANGUAGE DICTIONARYSecond part of sign
language dictionary and we have new committee for this year 2009
Now student from Mainstream high school have sign language as school subject and we put ideas contributing to sign language subject so students can make their own signs for subject in school.
Also adult people can make their own signs for what we missed out on the first Dictionary.
DEAF SPORT ASSOCIATION OF FIJIThe ‘National Sports for
Disabled’ thanked all members for the hard word shown during sports.
Deaf from the Western side of Fiji and the Central were also invited.
We had won most prizes.Affiliates: World
Deaflympic, Asia Pacific Deaflympic, Fiji Disabled Sports Association.
