School closures

Remote learning from 23rd March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the government’s announcement that schools will be closed to the

majority of students from the end of school on Friday 20th March, we will be moving

to a model of online delivery and support from Monday 23rd March.

Teachers of all subjects will be setting work as homework tasks and these will be

communicated to students and parents through Go4Schools.

There will be a new online timetable for each year group that gives times when

teachers will be available to answer questions and to support students with their

work via email. Students could use this timetable at home to structure their day

and their study time.

All staff will be working remotely (subject to them remaining well enough to do

so). Students should email their teacher in the first instance but may be directed

to another member of staff such as a Subject Leader. If a student doesn’t receive a

reply from their teacher about their work, they should email the Subject Leader for

that subject. For Sixth Form students there will be no specific timetable for

communication but students and teachers are expected to be in regular contact via

their official school emails.

All key information including contacts, web links and updates will be made

available on the school website’s homepage.

Students also have access to a range of online learning platforms such as SAM

Learning via www.samlearning.com. Usernames and Passwords are made up of

the date of birth and initials of a student, for example Fred Smith born on 12th

March 2008 will have a username and password of 120308FS.

Students are expected to check their emails regularly and are expected to complete

the work that is being set. Teachers are available to give feedback and support.

We are looking at Google Classroom as an option to support delivery. Some

teachers and students are trialling this initially and students should check their

emails and the school website regularly for updates.
