A message from Mr Gill
Presentation Evening
Last Thursday, we celebrated individual and whole
school achievements for 2020 at our annual
presentation evening. Although quite different to a
traditional Eurongilly Public School presentation, the
ceremony ran smoothly under the school COLA with
awards, speeches, acknowledgements and student
performances. In what has been an extremely unique
and difficult year, there were still many successes to
celebrate. Congratulations to all of our students for your
efforts and progress, you have each risen to the
occasion and are deserving recipients of your awards
and acknowledgements.
I’d like to thank our parent and family body for your
continued support throughout 2020. I look forward to
building on the strong founding learning partnerships
and opportunities initiated this year. A special mention
to our wonderful P&C, your commitment to servicing
our students is outstanding and well done on finding
new fundraising opportunities. Farewell to the Orr and
Brabin families. On behalf of the students and staff,
thank you for your contributions to the school and
shared memories over the last 7 years. We wish Sienna,
Grace and Harriet the very best for the future.
Our staff were also acknowledged last Thursday evening
for their commitment and passion towards supporting
our students and their learning. Miss Kim Guthrie, Miss
Alice Worldon, Miss Amanda Case, Mrs Jessica
Makeham, Miss Sadie Jansen and Mr Rodney Brennan
each continually go above and beyond their role
statements to make our school the best it can be and I
look forward to having them on board in 2021. We
farewelled Mrs Rachel Harris early in the year and now
also farewell Miss Rhiannon Daley, who has made a
strong and positive impact on the Year 3-6 class this
year. Thank you Miss Daley! Mrs Nichole Scott will also
be a sad absence, at least for the beginning of 2021, as
she continues her role at Junee Public School. We look
forward to welcoming and introducing Miss Victoria
Dickey to the Eurongilly Public School team in the new
year, Miss Dickey will be leading the Year 3-6 teaching
and learning program. Finally, although not official staff
members, a special acknowledgement to Mrs Jessica
Carter and Mr Laurie Harbrow for the great work and
positive input they deliver each day to our students,
staff, parents and school.
A final thank you from me to everyone reading this
newsletter. Thank you for taking interest and valuing our
awesome little school. I wish you a merry Christmas, a
safe and happy holiday break and I look forward to
sharing stories, knowledge and learning in 2021.

Year 6 Farewell
Last Tuesday, we held a unique little Year 6 Farewell at
school to officially acknowledge all of the achievements
of Ellouise, Grace, Liam and Sienna as they graduate
Year 6 and head off to high school. They have been
outstanding student leaders this year and will be sadly
missed by both students and staff. They are well
prepared for their future endeavours and we wish them
the very best for the future.
Student leaders 2021
As we farewell our 2020 Year 6 students, we also
welcome the new generation of student leaders. Sam,
Malee and Levi are all very excited to be in Year 6 next
year, whilst Claire, Jesse and Archer will play significant
support roles as Year 5 students and fellow Stage 3
peers. Our Year 6’s of 2021 will be formally
acknowledged as student leaders at our Leadership
Induction Assembly early in the new year.
Ngumba-Dal pole project for Junee
Adventure playground
Our school has recently completed the design and
painting of an Aboriginal pole that will be displayed
beside similar poles by fellow Ngumba-Dal schools at
the new Junee Adventure Playground, located at Loftus
Oval. Alice oversaw the project, with senior students
finding and stencilling native animals, with symbols and
patterns added for affect. Each student also added their
thumb print. We thank Alice for her time and patience
in creating a wonderful artwork we can all be proud of.
The poles are set to be on display by the end of the year.

Excursion
Our K-6 end of year celebration excursion was a great
hit for the students this week. They indulged in a movie
at the cinemas, popcorn, lollipops, a KFC lunch before
capping the day off with a couple of games of 10-pin
bowling. A massive thank you to the P&C for covering a
large part of the costs of this fun and relaxing day out
to cap off a busy and successful year.
Swimming
Our students have been mustering their energy to take
part in end of year swimming lessons ahead of the
Summer break. Our last session, this Wednesday 16
December, will be accompanied by some extra water
play reward time to cap off the school year. Parents may
choose to meet us at the pool for the last part of the day
before a final goodbye for the year. Alternatively,
students will be farewelled from the school gate at
3.15pm. Thank you again to the P&C for covering the
costs of these additional swimming lessons.
Our 10-day intensive school swimming program will not
be commencing at the beginning of 2021. The program
will be held later in the year, once our Kindergarten
students have established themselves in primary school.
Our Year 3-6 students will be partaking in 2 swim
training sessions prior to Black Billy Cup.
2021 dates and family holidays
Please refer to the school calendar for the start of the
new year. Year 1-6 students attend school on Friday 29
January, yes Week 1 is extremely short! Kindergarten
students start to transition to whole days from Monday
1 February. If any families are planning on holidays
during February or March, could you please let us know
approximate dates ASAP for planning purposes.

Santa Dash Walkathon
Our Santa Dash Walkathon for Seeds of Hope in Peru
was held on Friday the 11th of December. The students
put in an amazing effort! Even when they got tired they
knew that one more lap around slowly would be an extra
point and more funds being raised by those students
who were sponsored per lap.
The event was followed by a traditional Peruvian
Chocolatada Navideña, where our students enjoyed a
cup of chocolate milk and panettóne.
Muchas gracias to everyone who donated. Final figures
are yet to be calculated but we know Eurongilly Public
School total will exceed $500 and this will go a long way
in supporting the 2021 nutrition program for the
students who attend Seeds of Hope. We look forward to
perhaps hosting another Santa Dash Walkathon in 2021.
Could families please return their green permission to
publish forms and any money by tomorrow
(Wednesday) morning so we can finalise this initiative
before the end of the year.
