Note: Some of the songs we do in class have been omitted due to copyright

restrictions. The CD links will not play, once again due to copyright. The

materials I use are accumulated from a variety of sources. Most of the

materials I use are public domain and are legal to publish. However, if you

would like to purchase a recorder method with play-along CD, I would

suggest the Ed Sueta recorder method books. All of the CDs I use come

from his series.

AFL Recorder Learning Targets

I can read treble clef music notation and sing the

following pitches: b, a, g, e, c’, d’, d, c.

I can interpret a fingering chart and demonstrate proper

fingerings.

I can memorize and demonstrate fingerings for the

following notes: b, a, g, e, c’, d’, d, c.

I can read music and perform with proper technique the

following songs with three mistakes or less to earn

recorder karate belts at the highest possible level.

Music from the Baroque and Classical

periods often contain many different types

of ornaments.

trills—rapidly play from written note to one note higher.

turns—play written note then, one note higher, written

note and then one note lower, back to original note.

mordents—play written note, then rapidly one note

higher, then back to original note.

grace notes—rapidly play first note resting on

second note.

Baroque architecture was filled with ornaments and

decorations as was the music of the time period.
