Reasoning Reasoning is the

process of creating or generating conclusions from evidence or premises, it consists on a series of conclusions that say how the evidence and the contention are connected

Types of Reasoning

Inductive Reasoning

Allows humans to create generalizations about people, events and things in there environment

Example: all twins are identical

Deductive Reasoning

How we apply generalizations and fallacies, errors in reasoning

Example: only men like to play basketball

Reasoning from Authority

Is used when a person argues that a particular claim is justified because it is held by a credible source.

Example: by parents said so

Comparison Reasoning

All the females I know like chocolate cake so all females like chocolate cake

Which could not be true because there could be one that does not like it

Figurative Comparison

An attempt to link similarities

Example all ships as big as the Titanic will sink

Literal Comparison

An attempt to establish a link between similar classifications

Example all Toyota cars and BMW are just as fast

Reasoning

The critical thinker must remember a difference between the reasoning need to establish the validity.
