RE-ENVISIONING PANCHGANI
Identity Today Panchgani town has no particular identity. Various spaces and streets are seen and used as temporary or transient spaces. People relate to them merely for functional reason. Time spent by tourists is therefore very short. Most visitors visit Panchgani for just a day and disperse to the different points including the ‘table-land’.

Objective Our central objective is to envision a ‘Town Centre’ and to establish an identity for Panchgani. Visitors would thus be able to relate with the ‘Centre’ and spend time for food, entertainment, leisure and engage in various passive and active cultural programs.

The ‘Town Centre’ helps integrate the various existing public buildings such as the Town Hall, Municipal Council building and Municipal Markets etc. Networking of these buildings and open-spaces enables us to establish a profound ‘Town Centre’ with many more activities and interests; a small separate cinema hall, a cultural centre, food courts, gallery and open spaces for leisure and walks.

Table Land is the most important and iconic landmark of Panchgani. But the arrival, introduction & departure to this magnificent journey and experience is unplanned . Our objective is to structure the various activities and spaces at the point of arrival / departure to create a definite sense of place. Re – organization of the vendors providing various food and entertainment services is the starting part of the plan.

RE-ENVISIONING THE TABLE LAND
Formalization of pathways and steps to the ‘Table land’ is also an aspect of our plan. Signage and information boards including maps will help the visitors know more about the area. Lastly, public facilities such as drinking water and toilets will be developed.
