Q&A/ Survey

AGENDA

The TrackSAFE Foundation is a registered Harm Prevention Charity, established by the Australian Rail Industry in March 2012. At TrackSAFE, we endeavour to reduce near collisions, injuries and fatalities on the rail network resulting from suicide and reckless behaviour. In doing so, TrackSAFE aims to create a better workplace for rail employees.

OUR MEMBERS

TrackSAFE commissioned a video produced by R U OK? to highlight the importance of our very own Rail R U OK?Day by way of testimony from colleagues representing sectors across the rail industry.

As part of a concerted effort, we are asking that the video not be distributed internally or externally until 23 March.

About R U OK?

R U OK? is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to encouraging conversations to prevent suicide.

We want all people to regularly and meaningfully ask ‘are you ok?’ of anyone struggling with life.

We were founded in 2009 by advertising executive Gavin Larkin (1968-2011)

Gavin wanted to create a world without suicide after experiencing the suicide death of his father, Barry Larkin. Founder Gavin Larkin and

CEO Janina Nearn at the launch of R U OK?Day in 2009

INSPIRATION

“In the time it takes to have a coffee, you can start a conversation that could change a life.”

Gavin Larkin (1968-2011)

WHY we exist

More than 2,300 Australians suicide each year (ABS 2012).

For every Australian who takes their life, it’s estimated another 30 Australians

attempt to take their own life (SANE Australia).

To create a world without suicide, the whole community needs to be

mobilised.

We want to support a national movement that inspires all people to

proactively connect with one another.

OUR supporters

Why TrackSAFE & R U OK?

• Meaningful opportunity to reach over 100,000 people and inspire stronger connections in an industry that can experience high levels of trauma

• A shared commitment to suicide prevention and wellbeing

• A simple message that we can all support and one that can make a big difference to someone who is struggling
