Questionnaire Results

Jo Joyce

Purpose, aim and methodology

We are creating a new music magazine based on the genre of R&B/Hip Hop. In order to create this

magazine to appeal to the target audience, we need to take in consideration what they want for the

magazine; therefore we conducted a few questions into a questionnaire relating to the target audience’s

profiling, purchasing habits and personal preferences.

Age: A majority of people I questioned fit into the 16-20 age group; this may be due to the environment I was in (college) when questioning most my people, however I am pleased with this result as I believe the music genre of my magazine best appeals to this age group. Hometown: The hometowns were all around a similar area of the country and county; therefore I will advertise and distribute my magazine in these areas such as Epping and Bishop’s Stortford.

Gender: I mostly questioned males; consequently my magazine will be mostly aimed at males suiting their stereotyped interests.

Occupational status: the occupational status is very important as it gives me a rough idea on the audiences income – a majority of people questioned are students; so, I would have to make the magazine relatively cheap.

Expect to pay

The people I have asked are likely to not want to increase their monthly outcome on magazines – so I would have to make my magazine quite cheap and reflect on what they expected to pay – My price will most likely cost £1.99

More people would prefer to buy my magazine monthly, due to it being less frequent, I could improve the price.

Why?

Preferred colour scheme was option 1- possibly due to the variety of colours.

This front cover was the preferred front cover, mostly due to the image and the layout and colour scheme.

Conclusion and Proposals

My results are quite clear with which are the most popular options. I will consider the most popular results as it will effect

how interested they are in my magazine.I have mainly decided that my magazine will be mostly focused

at a male audience; therefore my advertisements will be related to stereotyped interests such as football and gaming.

My magazine will be located in most the areas I included in my questionnaire because there are a variety of different places and not a large amount in on area so it would be hard to chose from.My magazine will be around £2 a month as it would need to be

affordable for students as they were the majority of my audience.
