November, 2016 Activity Report: Building Hope, Building Community
“There are many nice people in the world, but if you can’t find one—be one :)”
FEATURE: Winter Campaign! Winter doesn’t discriminate, it doesn’t care about nationality, religion, male
or female, young or old.—And we should be the same in our kindness & humanity. We search out the hungry, the needy, the cold & helpless during
the winter months & offer heat, blankets, warm clothing & food.

Most people live in concrete houses—
very cold in the winter. Carpets are
important for insulation,
especially for small children to keep
from getting sick!
Young students struggling on their own without a family—
thank you HRJ for sponsoring a stove, heater, gas bottle & food—not to mention the
encouragement that there are people out there “who care”!
New students this month: Abdallah studying mechatronics.
Wafaa studying Chemistry. Sara studying Biomedical Engineering.
Food for families. A 60 year old widowed grandmother lives here. Her son died & she took in his 2 daughters. They get water from a nearby Mosque.
They have no electricity or support. Loay. Laptops are not a luxury
anymore—they are necessary for homework, research & graduation
projects. Thank you Catherine Ashcroft for your generous
donation of laptops!
Qsay
Laptops for University Students!:
Sami collected & donated 3 I-7 Mac laptops as part of his high school
project! These will go to our engineering students!

Community Support!
Now running for almost 3 years, women are learning a skill & starting small businesses in their homes. Um Mahmoud, a double refugee from Palestine to Syria, then Syria to Jordan after her husband was killed, is the story of how 1 woman took sewing classes
& is now sewing for a living supporting a family of 5 children.
Food Security
Food Security helps struggling families to focus on studying & relieve the stress moms have to feed their
children. Donated by Catherine Ashcroft & HRJ.
Helping families raise rabbits enables them to start their own business by selling rabbits, & also puts food on
their table!
Family Gardens! Growing Like Crazy!
Success Story!: Maharat Sewing Center in Dlayl
Support for Orphanages
103 Orphans at Schnellar Orphanage received a bi-monthly donation of meat,
cheese, oil, olives as well as chips & juice!
These children in a village learning to grow food in container gardens are mastering a skill & helping to put nourishing food on the table! They are having fun & proud of their work!
Teach a child to grow a garden & he can feed himself for life!
