Protect your business from becoming a victim of fraud by understanding the types of fraud and the steps you can take to prevent them.

Never provide your online passwords or give out card and reader codes on the phone or via email.

Don’t rely on your incoming caller display to verify someone who’s phoning you.

Know that the bank will never phone you and ask you to move your money to a “Safe Account”

Protect all PCs with anti-virus software and install updates as soon as they are available.

Only download software from sites you trust and can verify.

Log out and call the bank immediately if you see unexpected screens or pop-ups when using online banking.

If a supplier asks to change the account number for where you send their money, check the request is genuine.

Make sure emails asking for payments to be made are genuine.

Create fraud processes and educate your staff on them.

Never leave your card unattended.

Limit employee access to data to the minimum that’s required to carry out their role.

Employees should have strong passwords and not share them with other employees.
