Dissemination of Information

• On-line information info include:– census questionnaires– technical notes– tabulated results

– 8 out of 15 countries disseminate on-line results

• But, very few provide the questionnaire and technical notes including the metadata

Integrated Statistics System

• It is possible to plan and develop a comprehensive statistical programme:

– Without duplication of statistical activities – Without release of conflicting statistics,– With efficient and balanced use of available statistical

resources– With compatible concepts, definitions and

classifications used in the different statistical activities – Would facilitate interpretation and analysis of related

data from different sources.

• Strategic vision of ESCWA has Agriculture and Rural Development Statistics including food security as one of the priorities

• Role: – Capacity development– Data compilation and dissemination– Coordination role for the Arab region

• ESCWA substantive contribution:– Status of agriculture statistics– Gender perspective– Capacity need of NSOs

Objective of this meeting

• Discuss modalities for implementation of the GS in the region

• Encourage courtiers to implement agriculture censuses and surveys

• Prepare a proposal for the 10th Session of the Statistical Committee
