Stations Students will be able to represent proportional relationships in various forms and compute unit rates.

Ideas for Implementation: Stations are a perfect activity that incorporates movement and cooperative learning. Use this for a full day lesson or set them up and have students work on them throughout the unit. Instructions: Print on cardstock or place in a page protector to help them last. Each student needs a recording sheet as well. 1.  Place stations in various locations around the room 2.  Divide students into groups of 2-4. 3.  Set timer to a specific time (5-7 minutes) and have students work with their group to complete

the station. When time is up, students switch locations.

Proportional relationships

7.4C Represent constant rates of change in mathematical and real world problems given pictorial, tabular, verbal, numeric, graphical, and algebraic representations, including d=rt.

7.4B Calculate unit rates from rates in mathematical and real-world problems.

7.4C Determine the constant of proportionality (k=y/x) within mathematical and real-world problems.

7.RP.1 Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measure in like or different units.

7.RP.2 Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.

7.RP.2a Decide whether two quantities are in a proportional relationship, e.g., by testing for equivalent ratios in a table or graphing on a coordinate plane and observing whether the graph is a straight line through the origin.

7.RP.2b Identify the constant of proportionality (unit rate) in tables, graphs, equations, diagrams, and verbal descriptions of proportional relationships.

7.RP.2c Represent proportional relationships by equations.

7.RP.2d Explain what a point (x, y) on the graph of a proportional relationship means in terms of the situation with special attention to the points (0, 0) and (1, r) where r is the unit rate.
