Project Update | June 2016
Bid Results and Revised ScheduleThe Highway 4 through St. James project was successfully rebid in May and is ready to move forward with construction. S M Hentges & Sons, Inc. of Jordan was awarded the contract with a bid of $15,685,646, about $3.2 million less than the lowest bid in February. A couple of factors figured into the lower bids. There were more bidders, staging options were offered and the risk with the hazardous material removal was reduced. The contractor has submitted a preliminary schedule of construction activities that includes work beginning on 8th Avenue N in July 2016. Most work on Highway 4 will begin in 2017 and be completed in 2018. The detour route and construction sequencing maps provide scheduling and traffic routing for each stage of construction. Information is subject to change, sign-up for project updates on the city’s website.
