ProjectorsA presentation by Kim Harvey

What kinds are there?

•1. Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)

•2. Liquid-Crystal Display (LCD)

•3. Digital Light Processing (DLP)

CRT.. What is it?

•Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) are the largest and most experienced player.

•It utilizes three tubes or “guns”

•The three colors of tubes combine to make the image.

•They do not have a fixed number of pixels, making them versatile.

•They require calibration by a professional.

What’s an LCD?

•Liquid-Crystal Display (LCD) are the cheapest method of getting great home cinema.

•Similar to the CRT, the LCD contains three glass panels to transfer the image signal

•This particular projector shows a sharp image.

•The combination of open and closed pixels can make a wide range of colors and shades.

•The lamps in this device have the ability to produce an extremely large amount of light.

What is a DLP, anyway?

•This particular device is made up of a million tiny mirrors that are capable of switching on and off thousands of times per second.

•The light is directed towards and away from a dedicated pixel space.

•The length of time a pixel is on/off determines the level of gray in the pixel.

•DLP is said to be the future of Home Cinema Quality projection.

•While this projector has better features than the previous two, the high cost of the manufacturing sets it back.
