This unit introduces students with the dynamics,

provision, financing and access to Malaysian health care.

The Malaysian community is made up of people from many

cultures.

Awareness of cultural diversity is vital when working as a

physiotherapist in Malaysia.

Practitioners need to be aware of their own cultural

assumptions, and the cultures of hospitals and of health

care.

Physiotherapists must consider the impact of the health

culture on people for whom a hospital or other health

care setting is an unfamiliar environment.

In this unit, the areas of professional practice such as

medico-legal aspects, professional autonomy and

accountability, administration etc are also addressed.
