My name is Enara a curious Product Design & Researcher, who was born and rise in a small village in Spain. My curiosity always made me dream about discovering new places and living exiting adventures. When I was 20 I had the opportunity to go to Sweden for a year of Erasmus. That experience really changed my life. After that I moved to Malaga for a year of Business Marketing Master, Ireland for an English course and Amsterdam and Eindhoven for internships.
Amsterdam was where I started my internship as product designer in a design studio (Reggs). When I was about to finish, I realised that I like more the research part of the design. Research about trends, innovations, consumers and future, so I decided to find something more related with research where I could translate all the knowledge into new ideas and designs. Last summer I moved from Amsterdam to Eindhoven to make more internships, this time at the Packaging Innovation Team at Mars (Chocolate). I feel really glad about my decision because I learned a lot and even more important I realise what I really want to do.
Now it is time to make a step forward and find a job that gives me the opportunity to learn and grow every day, take my camera and start a new adventure. Are you as curious as I am? So have a look inside and enjoy it!

Where does the project come from?
Why do we need research?
Which methodology are we going to use?
How was the research?
What have we learned?
Brainstorming and concept design phase.

During the last team meeting, the team found some opportunities on the market.
A market research was needed to analyse trends and other brands.
Qualitative Research.

I created a matrix for each brand comparing all different aspects of the packaging.
Brainstorming session to screen all the information we got form the research.

A qualitative research was designed first for the Netherlands and then for Germany. For the Dutch market research I took my bike during two weeks going to all different places to analyse 11 brands and collect information of the product such as price or volume. As I got really interesting results in the Netherlands, a month later the all team travelled to Germany to research on their market.

Conclusions
I got some interesting conclusions from some brands, such as the use of different formats, exclusive formats, exclusive price, material, etc.
1. Planning: I learned to set objectives and goals; define process steps and timelines; develop schedules and evaluate results.
2. Presentation Skills: I improved my effectivity on different presentation formats: one-on-one, small and large groups and bosses.I want to highlight that I even had the change to present all my projects at Mars showing how important the design is for the Packaging Innovation team to the R&D Director of MCEE (Mars Chocolate Europe and Eurasia).

2Limitededition
The aim was to work on packaging proposals for a limited edition with more chocolate than the regular product. The new packaging should show the `more chocolate´ and do not look like a normal pouch.

A market research was needed in order to analyse what other chocolate brands are doing with their packaging´s.
Qualitative Research.Online / Offline
I made a market research online and offline to analyse the competi-tors. A friends and family survey was also made to get some insights.
I learned on what people want when they are looking for chocolate.
Next step will be create real mock-ups of the best concepts.
With all the conclusions and recommendations we did a brainstorming session to come up with different ideas for the new design.
I created new artwork and a lot of visuals of the best ideas.
Some quick mock-ups were created with carton board to have even better visuals of the new pack ideas.

Research
Once I made the market research I divide all similar packaging in different group, packs with similar characteristics.
Fieldwork
I made a survey to friends and family showing all the different chocolate packaging formats on the market.
That research gave me a lot of insights from consumer, such as, the picture of what is inside is really important.
Conclusions
1. Customer focus: I want to highlight how enriching was to talk with customers and get insights. Get first -hand information and use it to improve the packaging. Having customer needs all the time in mind makes the design process more effective.

Brainstorming session to create projects for this year mixing two of our core brands.
To investigate the possibilities for the European market and to find European consumer needs (size, piece count, artwork etc.).
An online research was made to analyse similar products. Then creating mock-ups of a new design and testing in one of the biggest markets.
We made an online research and we got also some insights from our data base.
5 different formats were chosen and I started creating the design for each one.
I created different concepts for the design of the new pack.
After some meetings the final design was developed and adapted to all the different formats.
After 2 week the final artwork was ready. I send it to an agency in the UK so they could create the mock-ups for us.
The mock-ups made marketeers feel enthusiastic about the project so the team is planning an online consumer research in Germany. 3
Competencies I improved
1. Standing alone: The first project I managed by myself. I started learning to work alone, take my own risk and manage people. Looking forward to work on that competency on my next role.
What
On this project I worked mostly on the design part, creating a new artwork for the new mix.

We did not plan any market research.
Online / Offline
I did research about materials, what should it looks like and feel like.
I identified a lot of pack shapes and materials that could work for the project.
Next step will be create real mock-ups of the best concepts.
The brainstorming session was very creative and crazy because the feasibility was not really important at this stage.
To make easier to convince our stakeholders I created visuals of the best ideas with the new artwork. I even placed them on the cinema to have a better understanfing of the concept.

Packaging Innovation
Team!
One of the biggest projects at Mars was to create the internal communication plan for the team to promote it internally.Once I framed the problem I defined the strengths of the team and the message we wanted to communicate.
Next step was to create the identity design for the team so I designed a logo for the team. As one of the goals was to show our stakeholders the added value of each member of the team I designed personal logos too. 5

We had the opportunity to show our potential during a European Marketing Meeting that took place in Amsterdam with all Brand Marketing Directors. For that reason I designed stickers with all the professional information of each member of the team and I stick them to Pringles cans. We put them on the coffee room so at every break the people at the conference was going to that room and enjoying the chips while they checked the information on them. The initiative was really successful and we had good feedback from the attendances.

Competencies
What I Improved What I want to Improve
1. Comfort Around Higher Management: For my next role I want to feel more comfortable with more senior managers and do not have the fear of approaching them with my own ideas. I also want to understands how senior managers think and work to determine the best way to get things done with them by talking their language and responding to their needs.2. Patience: I am learning to listen before acting or asking anything. Working on being more patient and trying to understand the people and the data before making judgments and acting.4. Self knowledge: As a young professional I am discovering my personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and limits. Looking forward to learns more about myself on my next role.5. Standing alone: Even if I had the opportunity to work on that during my role at Mars, I feel ready to face my next challenge, stand up and work alone on tough assignments.
1. Learnings on the fly: Thanks to all different projects, I learned how to face new problems, how to be open to changes, how to learn from success and failures and how to enjoy new challenges!2. Humor: Has a positive person I can use my sense of humour to ease tension.3. Boss Relationships: At Mars both Rosanne and Dennis had been really good coaches, challenging me with all different projects. They made really easy to learn form them. 4. Technical Learning: I pick up on technical things quickly. At Mars I learned a lot about how a big company works, packaging, printing techniques, materials, etc.5. Composture: During the communication plan for the team I learned to be cool under pressure, handle stress and not to show frustration when resisted.

` She has been an enormously valuable addition for the team. Her knowledge and feeling from innovation and translating it into a realistic pack are excellent strengths. Next to that it was also great to have her in my team from a people perspective; very social and very engaged.´
` Enara and I worked together on several packaging innovation projects for the M&M’s brand.I have gotten to know her as a very creative, thorough and ambitious project manager. It’s great to work with her! `
