Cold Chain Project WWILPL, CHHINDWARA & NAGPUR

Study of Nagpuri Orange

Chhindwara is known for oranges in Madhya Pradesh. In fact two tehsil namely Pandurna & Sausar have around 12000 hectares of oranges orchards. Export of any produce is only possible if these produce meet tough standards of national as well international markets. Horticulture produce is one such thing where improvements in quality cannot be achieved immediately. Lot of efforts at gross root levels is required to cultivate fruits of improved quality, size, shape, etc in existing orchards. Since new orchards take long gestation period of approximately 6 to 7 years, efforts will have to be made towards improving health of existing orchards. One major disease, which is taking shape of epidemic, is PHYPTOPTHORA. These dieses are very prominent among orange tree of this reason. Only way to control this dieses is through proper management of fungicides particularly REDOMIL OR ALLIATE. These fungicides are very very costly and majority of farmers are unable to bear the cost of it. Proper does and management of this diseases absolutely crucial if orchards of areas are to be saved.
