Embedded  interface  design  of    Industrial  Machine

Background:  High  Volume  Mailing  Machines  process  approximately  500  million  mail  pieces  per  day  around  the  globe.    Problem:  UI  highly  obsolete,  significant  decline  in  throughput,  operator  producHvity  &  overall  customer  dissaHsfacHon.    Goal:  Redesign  the  UX  to  ensure  usability  and  consistency  with  current  business  expectaHons.

Embedded  interface  design  of  Industrial  Machine

Research:  Contextual  ObservaHons  &  Interviews    Output:  Insight  on  user’s  roles,  context,  and  needs.

Modeling:  Persona  CreaHon  Output:  User  tasks,  background,  capabiliHes  and  limitaHons  to  guide  design  process.

Planning:  CollaboraHve  Story  Mapping    with  stakeholders  Output:  agreement  on  feature  and  funcHonaliHes,  and  prioriHzaHon  of  development  plan

Design  Process:  Design  Studio  Exercises  with  stakeholders  Output:  collaboraHve  evoluHon  of  alternate  design  ideas

InformaHon  Architecture:  Task  Flows

Design:  InformaHon  Architecture  and  Interface  Output:  A  customizable  interface  framework,  where  the  interface  is  a  collecHon  of  independent  widgets.

Allows  easy  scalability  and  extendibility  to  diverse  business  needs  with  liVle  development  effort.

Design:  InformaHon  Architecture  and  InteracHons  A  widget  has  an  expanded  state,  which  serves  as  a  control  panel  of  that  widget.

Design:  InformaHon  Architecture  and  InteracHons  Expanded  widgets  show  overall  performance  of  the  system

Design:  InformaHon  Architecture  and  InteracHons  Error  categorizaHon  and  modeling  –  allows  users  to  visualize  large  amounts  of  error  data  into  manageable  informaHon.

Design:  InformaHon  Architecture  and  InteracHons  Performance  management  allows  supervisors  to  evaluate  performance  related  to  job  and  operator.
