Lean Coffee

● Lean Coffee is a structured, but agenda-less meeting.

● Participants gather, build an agenda, and begin talking.

● Conversations are directed and productive because the agenda for the meeting was democratically generated.

1. Setup the Kanban

● Create a 3 column board ○ To Discuss○ Discussing○ Discussed

1 minute

2. Build the agenda

● Write on a card a topic that you would like to discuss ● Write as many cards as you wish

2 minutes

3. Vote for your favorite topic(s)

● Everyone present gets 2 votes to assign to the card(s) of their choice

● Just draw a dot on the card(s) that gets your vote

2 minutes

4. Sort the board and start on the 1st topic

● Sort the the 1st column based on the number of votes, with the highest voted cards at the top

● Pull the 1st card in the 1st column and start discussing for 5 minutes

5 minutes

5. Vote on this topic

● Thumbs-up“I want to continue discussing this topic.”

● Thumbs-sideways“I’ll go along with the will of the group.”

● Thumbs-down“I do not want to continue discussing this topic.”

5. Pick the next topic

● Pull the 1st card in the 1st column and start discussing that topic
