COLLECTING

All 1,330 collection boxes are emptied by 13 drivers, who pick up the clothes from the bins 1 to 15 times a week; the busier a box is the more often it is being emptied. They take care of the weekly maintenance of the bins and alert the office if when bins need to be replaced.

BAILING.

400,000 pounds of clothing is delivered to the warehouse in Holliston each week.

The bales are loaded. 10 loaded trailers have left Planet Aid’s warehouse in Holliston every week in 2004.

27% of the clothes were exported in 2004.

Our clothing provide business for more than a 1,000 small thrift stores in Guatemala.

Approximately 8,000 people sustain themselves this way.

In Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada we provide clothing for 17 large thrift stores. 200 people have employment and income here and the predominantly blue-collar population have access to inexpensive clothing.

$2 million contributed to Development Aid in 2004

Planet Aid supports programs in Africa such as Child Aid which is devoted to creating a supportive environment for the wellbeing and development of children.

HOPE Humana is a program which helps people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The thought behind HOPE is that all ideas and methods are needed in the fight against AIDS and in handling the consequences of the AIDS epidemic.

SITE FINDERS.

We have site finders who are out everyday finding new site hosts and servicing our boxes.

SITE FINDING

Our crew of site finders are providing customer support and are an important link between the warehouse, the businesses which host our boxes and the general public.

MAINTENANCE

Each site is covered by a driver who is picks up from the bins at least once a week, or more often if needed. He takes care of the weekly maintenance of the bin and alerts Planet Aid if the bin needs to be replaced

MAINTENANCE

We have a truck that drives around picking up bins that need to be replaced or maintained and then they are brought to the warehouse and repaired.

MANAGEMENT

Planet Aid’s collection system is monitored 7 days a week. Overflows, dumping and other customer complaints are serviced the same day, often within a few hours for the time we receive them.
