Extending Music’s Extraordinary Impact Together
Womenjika and welcome to our 2017—2018 Philanthropy Impact Report.
As we recognise the achievements of the past year, we offer our sincere thanks to you for your inspiring commitment to Melbourne Recital Centre. Creating transformative musical experiences for our community is the heart of the Centre’s work. Our beautiful performance spaces would remain silent without your visionary and dedicated support.
Your gifts bring to life a vibrant and diverse musical program, create unique opportunities for artists to hone their skills and express their creativity, and make all of this accessible to many members of our community who would otherwise miss out on these life affirming musical experiences. Together we have brought enrichment to the lives of musicians and music lovers of all ages, both here at the Centre and across Victoria.
You all play a vital role in sustaining Melbourne Recital Centre, but we would especially like to highlight the transformative philanthropy of two great philanthropic leaders; the late Dr Betty Amsden AO DSJ, whose extraordinary bequest now allows us to support the creation of new works for young people, and Lady Primrose Potter AC, whose visionary generosity will ensure that our vital work supporting local artists will continue to grow in the newly named Primrose Potter Salon.
As the Centre approaches its 10th anniversary in 2019, it seems fitting that we take a moment to reflect on all that your support has helped us achieve together over our first decade. The foundations we have laid and the successes we have shared energise us for what we can do together in our second decade and beyond.
Thank you for 10 years of inspired giving!

Betty Amsden Kids and Families Program
In 2018, the Centre was the beneficiary of a $1 million bequest gift from the late Dr Betty Amsden AO, DSJ that establishes the Betty Amsden Kids and Families Program.
The bequest will be used to extend the Centre’s current programming, generate new content and support the creation of new works for young people with music at their core to inspire and educate the next generation of music lovers.
We are grateful to Betty for her immense generosity and foresight in helping the Centre secure this program.
