The Adopted Premises• The normal operation of the plant could not be affected• All ROM field devices will be installed in parallel to existing
plant instruments, sharing the same primary element (sensor)
• The existing DCS configuration will not be changed as well as the supervisory operation screens
• A new screen should be configured to the Fieldbus FOUNDATION™ for ROM live demo
• The radio backhaul path should provide cyber security • All the necessary technical support for the installation,
configuration and start-up for all the ROM equipment should be guaranteed by the respective manufacturers

The scope of the tests
For Petrobras, the primary objective of this live demonstration at the pilot plant PC3 was to verify that we could access and use remotely, with ROM, all the operational functionalities available locally Another objective was to check the interoperability
of ROM devices of different manufactures over the backhaul

Local test – ROM Architecture
• On local test, the following functionalities were tested:
• Configuration of ROM and field devices
• Commissioning of the field devices
• Operation of the plant• Asset management

Remote Test – ROM Architecture
• For test purposes, the PC3 unit is the REMOTE SITE• And this visualization room is the REMOTE CONTROL
ROOM

Live Demonstration of ROM Technology
• The live demonstration will focus on:
• Remote operation of the plant• Remote asset management of the plant and ROM
devices• [REMOTE CONTROL ROOM] Visualization of the
architecture screens

Remote Operation of the Plant[DEMO] Remote access to the local operation data. No information is lost! The remote screen shows the same information seen at the original local operation screen and information from the new ROM devices (ROM devices plus field devices connected to them).
• [CAMERA] Original PC3 screen. Video received via backhaul. • [REMOTE CONTROL ROOM] Main DCS operation screen
(overview). • OPC Data from original PC3 being received via backhaul. • HSE ROM device information being received via backhaul.

Conclusions
• With ROM technology these tests showed no restrictions and no differences to:
• Operation of the plant• Asset Management• Configuration of blocks• Commissioning
• Very easy and quick integration, transparent to the user• Verification of the interoperability of ROM devices from
different manufacturers
