President’s MessagePresident’s Message
WW ell, folks, our 2015 sea-
son has officially started
with the successful exe-
cution of our first ex-
travaganza of the year, our After Holiday
Party! Yes, it’s odd to start the New Year
by trying to belatedly finish up the past
year but, that’s just how Chesapeake rolls!
It was, as always an amazing evening full
of much fun and camaraderie, as validated
by the ever-welcome presence of our new
National President, Caren Copper and
most of her executive council. While I
think they were there mostly to make sure
that Manny was truly going to stay in
Chesapeake from now on and not be pop-
ping up at their meetings, they seemed to
really enjoy themselves as evidenced by
their very active participation in stealing
gifts at the Yankee Swap session! Thank
you Caren and everyone else for joining us
for the evening!
It was a near riotous event which brought
much laughter to the party. Much of it
when my lovely, “White-wine only
please,” wife Kara who, doing her best
Vanna White to substitute for a fondly
missed Bob Gutjahr, was introduced to the
opening “Jagermeister-shot” tradition for
the emcees of the event. Having been mis-
takenly assured by me that this probably
wouldn’t happen, she gave me a big grin
and a wink and soldiered on through both
that and a second later shot, with which the
Swap was off to a running start!
Of course none of this would have ever
come about if not for the tireless efforts of
Donna Brandt and her husband Warren
who arranged for the party at the Yellow
Fin restaurant; thank you both for really
putting this event over the top!. Every de-
tail worked to perfection and it was a fan-
tastic evening. So many of our members
enjoyed the company of fellow aficiona-
dos, a great cocktail hour, a delicious meal,
the many door prizes provided by our
event sponsors and good friends at Por-
sche of Silver Spring and a very healthy 50/50 raffle which all made for a great do-
nation to our Community Service fund.
And thanks to everyone who showed up
early, helped with registration, the awards,
and the program setup and cleanup! It was
another example of members working for
members to put on successful, enjoyable
events.
With February upon us now, our commit-
tees are in full swing, planning social
events, our Super Slot Car night with its
world-class chili cook-off dinner,
and both new member and volun- 5

teer party events, allowing us to get to-
gether with fellow Chesapeake members to
swap stories and information! These
events, in addition to those which National
PCA and the surrounding dealers will be
staging, will make for a very busy winter
and early spring.
So be sure to watch our website calendar
closely, check out our Facebook page for
updates, and tag all our event notices in the
Patter to join in on the fun! We hope you
find something that intrigues you enough
to come out and join the rest of us as we
make our way on into spring!
As always, I’m happy to hear from you
directly and you can reach me at presi-
dent@pcachs.org.
Have fun and Drive Safely!

“Like the other videos we brought you earlier showing the Porsche 918 assembly line and the birth
of a 911 engine this video eschews music or voice overs. Instead, it's the silent symphony of Porsche
quality checks that resonate. What struck me the most about this video, besides the heavy armor
worn by the GT3 at the beginning, was the concentration and precision of the workers. Want to
know why Porsche constantly wins quality award after quality award? Watch this video showcas-
ing the final checks each 911 receives before leaving the plant and you'll have a better understand-

3,000% difference! Also, each 918 engine is bult by a single person.
