Overview of Selection Process2010/2011 Timeline for
South Central, Southwest, and Northwest Regions
Background on RCT Trial Plan
Began at 2007 World Service Conference with three Regions and an unfilled vacancy from a previous regional election.
New Plan gives Trustees and Delegates more input into process and takes personalities out of the selection.
2010/2011 Regional Trustee Selection Process
Three Regions selecting new Trustees: US Northwest, US Southwest, and US South Central.
RCT Process begins at 2010 WSC:

Résumés due to WSO by August 15, 2010.Area nominates candidates prior to August 15, 2010 deadline.
Depending on the Area’s schedule, that could have been anytime after the 2009 WSC.
After résumés arrive at WSO:
Résumés and scoring sheets are sent to RCT and Nominating Committee members.
Committee members review and score résumés.
RCT CHAIRPERSON
Receives scoring sheets from RCT members by September 30, 2010.
Transfers the totals on to the Summary Sheet
NOMINATING SECRETARYReceives scoring sheets
from Nominating Committee members by September 30, 2010.
Transfers the totals on to the Summary Sheet
At October Board of Trustees Meeting:
Nominating Committee, with the input from the RCT, selects up to 2 candidates from each Region.Nominating Secretary presents the names to the RCT Chair for each Region.
After October Board Meeting:
If any member hasn’t received a name from the RCT Chair by December 5, 2010 then they need to contact the Executive Director at the WSO.
RCT Chair sends names of candidates to the members of RCT for each Region by November 15, 2010.
Procedure for Objections:
Objections are sent to WSO via mail or to afg@al-anon.org to be forwarded to Nominating Chair with a copy to the RCT Chair.
If any member of the RCT has an objection to any candidate presented to the RCT that objection needs to be filed by December 15, 2010.
At the January 2011 Board Meeting:
The Board of Trustees will consider the needs of the Board, along with any objections from the RCT, and select a candidate as the Regional Nominee for each Region.
2011 World Service ConferenceSelected Nominee for each
Region is presented for traditional approval.
