Outer Space

Stars

Stars are massive, luminous balls of plasma held together by gravity.

Protostar – What exists before a star is born

T Tauri Star – Stage in a star’s formation

Main Sequence Star – The majority of the stars in our

galaxy

Red Giant Star – Forms after a star consumes its stock of

hydrogen in its core

White Dwarf Star – When a star completely runs out of

hydrogen fule

Red Dwarf Star – Most common kind of star, has a cool

Orion

Orion is known as The Hunter. It is the most recognizable

constellation in the sky.

Solar System

Formed about 4.6 billion years ago, our solar system

consists of the sun and all celestial objects that are bound to it by

gravity.

Solar System

What can we find in our solar

system? Planets Asteroid belt Dwarf Planets (moons) Dust and other particles

Planets

Listed in order from the Sun: Mercury

Galaxy

A Galaxy is massive! It is bound together by

gravity.

and dust

What is in a galaxy?

Galaxy

Our solar system is in the Milky Way Galaxy. Its

diameter is about 100,000 light years.

Universe

The Universe is everything that exists in

intergalactic space.
