September Message From Pastor Tim
“SHEETZ”
Recently on my travels, I noticed something very interesting. Now this phenomenon impacts every one of us almost every day. From Pennsylvania to North Carolina I found this iconic build-ing and logo to be very comforting. Sheetz, yes Sheetz gave me a sense of comfort. But why? Why would a gasoline convenience store offer a weary traveler a sense of comfort?
First let it be known, I am not, nor have I ever been an employee or shareholder in the Sheetz company. But I am a frequent visitor to their stores.
Now why is this store so comforting? In a nutshell they sell everything you need. Do you need gas? They got it. Do you need food? They got it. Do you need a drink? They got it. Do you need batteries? They got it. Do you need a clean restroom? They got it. If you travel almost anywhere along the mid-Atlantic region you will find a Sheetz to offer you everything you need except a bed. Yes I know that WaWa, Circle K, GetGo, and 7-Eleven offer most if not all of the same amenities. But none rival the availability and progressive thinking that the Sheetz stores offer. We enjoy and find comfort in knowing when we see that Sheetz sign in the sky, we can take solace that the store will be clean and comfortable and have the items we need to continue on our journey.
As we traveled and sought out Sheetz for gas and a quick lunch, I began to think about all that Sheetz offered and I realized -- something else offers everything Sheetz provides plus one item even more valuable and necessary for every day life.
The Bible—yes the Bible offers everything Sheetz does and one very important thing Sheetz could never offer—Salvation! We need fuel in our bodies every day to make it through the day. The Bible offers us the “bread of life.” In John 6:35 Jesus says, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry.” By believing in Jesus and approaching Him, Christ assures us we will never be hungry. Jesus goes on to say in that same verse “whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” So not only will Jesus feed us, but He provides a drink he calls the living water for us to gain refreshment. John 7:37-38 says; “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” So not only will Christ nourish us, but through us others will be nourished and refreshed as well. So just like Sheetz we will be fed and provided drink through the Bible.
The Bible offers the one thing we cannot find at Sheetz. In fact only in the Bible do we find this next element for life, Salvation. Jesus says “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26). And Jesus states again in John 14:6-7: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
If we truly desire salvation and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we must first open our Bibles and begin reading, learning, and absorbing God’s Holy Word. Through this book, this Holy Convenience Store, we receive everything we need to live and grow in this world and the next.
Sheetz supplies plenty of physical needs, but only the Bible supplies our spiritual needs.
God bless all of you, Pastor Tim, Nancy, Ashley and Ian

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS SEPTEMBER, 2019
ASBURY HALL LEADER: SHAWNA GRIM
THE GOOD BOOK
The Bible is a big book. Hundreds of characters and thousands of
ideas parade across its pages from beginning to end. From the uniniti-
ated to the very seasoned, readers of the Bible will always find some-
thing new to learn in The Good Book. Over the course of 8 sessions,
the leaders in this video study, Deron Spoo and Kyle Idleman dig into
the Bible's forty biggest ideas and help participants see how they apply
to life today and visit the most salient themes about God in the Bible.
At the center of the series stands God, and each theme will focus on
who He is in relationship to His created order. Chapters include:
Session 1: In the Beginning
Session 2: God is Good When Life Gets Messy
Session 3: God is Big
Session 4: Tough Love, Troubled Times
Session 5: Jesus Has Just Entered the Building
Session 6: Jesus Won't Leave Us as We Are
Session 7: Following God
Session 8: God's Message for You
An exploration that introduced readers to a narrative sweep of the Bi-ble, The Good Book offers a user-friendly guide to the Bible's biggest ideas. By encouraging readers to spend just fifteen minutes a day, five days a week, reading key Bible chapters, Deron Spoo helps them un-derstand the context and content of the Bible in a way that can open the whole Bible to them. Designed as a 40-day journey through 40 key chapters of the Bible, The Good Book will appeal to those who already love and read the Bible regularly as well as to those who are just begin-ning their Christian journey. The Good Book will help people under-stand and live by the transformative truths of the Bible.
Sign up in the old kitchen for the class. Please indicate if you are ordering a book.
ADDITIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER(S) & HELPER(S) NEEDED
We are in need of additional Sunday School teachers and helpers for the 2019 – 2020 term.
We need a teacher / Helper for the 6, 7 & 8 Grade level. Please prayerfully consider what
you can do to help us in this need. Our children are our greatest treasure. Teaching them
about Jesus is a necessity and you can play an important role in sharing the Light of the
World with them. Contact Shawna Grim or Pastor Hoover if you are able to help us.
You might also speak to one of our current teachers/helpers. They would be able to share
their experiences and answer any questions. We thank you for making this a priority.
Please consider bringing your whole family to Sunday school this fall. There is no
commitment to be there every week and nobody will ask you to answer questions or
participate in conversations unless you want to. Please try it out – you’ll be glad you did!
CRAFT AND SIP (No alcohol) NIGHT at the Pavilion with Mary Kraus Wednesday, Oct. 9th at 6 pm. We will be making a beautiful wooden pumpkin decoration. Class size is limited to 25 people. Cost will be announced soon. Call Sandy Buerk if you would like to join us. 594-0979 No artistic talent needed!

RESTORATION REVIVAL 2019
Methodist Pavilion, St. Marys
Sunday, September 29 ~ Thursday, October 3
America is a great country. It has done so much good in the world. Yet, the effects of this world and its poor
choices have taken a huge toll on us all. We need restored! The good news is that God is in the business of
restoring lives and God can make them better than new - again. That’s what restoration is all about.
Join Evangelist Richard Nyakaana, from Uganda, for five days of incredible eye-opening teaching. Pastor
Richard brings a unique perspective to America, one that cuts through all of the crud and grime and brings us
back to bare metal. Whether you’re Catholic, Protestant, or Undeclared, whether you’re a Believer in Christ, or
a Soul on a Fence, whether you’re healthy or sick, young or old, male or female, black or white, we all need
restoration.
Restoration Revival 2019 will be an incredible week of renewal. Start time: 7:00 pm
Night 1: (Sun., Sept. 29th) REBUILDING LIVES - On night one Pastor Richard will deliver a message
with you in mind. It indeed is the step needed to take for restoration to occur. Let the process begin.
Night 2: (Mon., Sept. 30th) RESTORING MARRIAGES - On night two, pastor Richard will speak to
America and focus particularly on the foundation of strong marriages. Our families are under attack.
God can repair and restore marriages. Whether you’re single, divorced, engaged, married, widowed, or
struggling to stay together with your spouse; Pastor Richard will tell it like it is and give sound Biblical
truth that will restore and protect our families today and tomorrow.
Night 3: (Tues., Oct. 1st) HELPING OUR YOUTH TO SHINE - On night three, restoration revival 2019
is going to have a youth emphasis, though it is for everyone. Fewer young people are attending church
and danger lies ahead. This is an evening for parents, children, and the young people. The youth are
our future leaders and will be charged and empowered to be all they can be. We will all support them.
Night 4: (Wed., Oct 2nd
) CONNECTING WITH THE CREATOR - On night four we are going to learn
how to restore communication with the designer. Prayer is powerful and we can learn from a man who’s
country and community in Africa are experiencing the power of prayer. Come learn and reconnect to
Almighty God thru Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” he also said, “Ask
and you will receive.” Learn how to receive God’s very best.
Night 5: (Thurs., Oct 3rd) GETTING TUNED TO RUN - On the final evening Evangelist Richard will
have a much needed focus on healing. God wants to bring healing in our midst and Richard has seen
God do miraculous things. Come to be healed and bring a friend who needs healing with you.
Restoration is on the way. You are invited to personally experience it. You will hear messages unlike anything
you’ve ever heard before.
This is an all church revival and is non-denominational in focus. Our eyes will be on Jesus Christ our only
hope. All will be encouraged to connect but none will be persuaded to choose one denomination over another.
We seek only the Savior, Jesus Christ in whom there is no greater name given in heaven or in earth. We seek
unity in the Spirit and transformation that our land might be healed, that the Church might be strengthened and
that God receive all the glory.
If you are interested in helping with this great movement of the Holy Spirit, contact Rev. Scott Wiest or
Pastor Brad Brunner.
Plan to come each night. Invite your family, friends and coworker. You will all be amazed. Restoration is on
the way.
In Christ’s hands - Rev. Scott T. Wiest
