Attach in following order:
Positive cables: Attach ends of cable to dead battery's positive terminal, and live battery's positive terminal.
Negative cables: Attach one end of cable to live battery's negative terminal, and other end to a grounded surface (engine block).
1 Start neighboring vehicle.
Wait a few minutes, then start vehicle with dead battery. Try again if necessary.

With both cars running,remove cables in reverse order of placement. Allow car to idle or drive for at least 30 minutes before turning off the engine.
