OUR WEBSITE
16
We completely updated our website this
semester. It now has a new design, all
current pictures, and a blog that will go bi-
monthly in the spring. It's no longer just
chunks of information for anyone, but a
resource for our own sisters.
17
RECRUITMENTContinuous Open Bidding
In early September, we invited a number of
women to our chapter house for events
including Casino Night, Movie Night,
Cupcake Decorating ______ and Ivory and
Onyx Night, during which we were able to
get to know them on a more meaningful
level than during the short parties of formal
recruitment.
18
NEW MEMBER PROGRAM
The New Member program is a six-week
long process in which the newly pinned
women learn about the heritage of NY Alpha
and Pi Beta Phi as an organization
internationally. They also learn about our
sisterhood and what it means to be tied
together by the bonds of the Wine and
Silver Blue. They learn about teamwork and
chapter dedication throughout the whole
process and understand that we are a family
and a home away from home for many
sisters. During approximately the fourth
19
week, they go through Big/Little Week and
by the en, they have three days worth of
baskets and presents from their Big Sisters
and they have a mentor in the house that
they can go to for any advice or help
throughout their time in college.
INSPIRATION DAYS
Seven Gifts Ceremony
Big Sister Letters
Pre-Initiation Ceremonies
Friendship Circle(an introduction to the Pi Phi songs)
After initiation, we hold a brunch for alumni, current sisters and newly initiated
members.

SCHOLARSHIP
Chapter members with the highest GPAs
each semester receive a GPA pin in
recognition for their hard work from that
semester. We also recognize multiple
members of the chapter by handing out a
24
pamphlet, which lists how each member
succeeded in her respective academic area.
This semester's recipients, whose spring
semester GPAs were the highest:
Alexis Lawton: 4.0
FRATERNITY HERITAGE ACTIVITIES
This semester's Fraternity Heritage module
was interactive and a lot of fun. It was an
25
activity educating our women about the
different ways Pi Phi divides alumni dues.
After a chapter meeting, members were
split into groups and given candy. Together,
they had to decide whether to put their
candy in the bucket for the Emma Harper
Turner Fund, the Pi Phi Foundation
Scholarship, Convention funding, or literacy
programming. All groups chose the Emma
Harper Turner Fund and we had a
conversation about each fund's importance.

CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
NY Alpha requires each initiated sister (with
the exception of new members) to complete
15 community service of philanthropy hours
in order to be eligible to attend semi-formal
in the fall and formal in the spring. We
encourage sisters to get involved on campus
through different organizations and in the
community through soup kitchens and local
charity efforts. We also participate in other
Greek organization's philanthropy events.
