Grief and Loss
Description: This module focuses on the concept of Grief and Loss. This module will
be at level 111 and will focus on anticipatory grieving, death and dying, children’s
response to loss, elder’s response to loss, situational loss and end of life care.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module, the student will be able to:
• Describe sources and types of loss
• Describe symptoms of grief and signs of grieving
• Discuss factors that facilitate or impede healthy grieving
• Identify signs of death (impending and actual)
• Discuss the nurse’s role in caring for the dying client and their families
• Discuss nursing care of the client after death
