Digital Image Processing Techniques and Applications
Project 7 Group 2

Greet By Saying Good Morning to everyone and tell them that it is a great pleasure to be here presenting to them. Then tell them that what is your project and what group you are in

Introduce them to the Group Members.
Digital Image Processing
Digital Image Processing is the use of computer algorithms to
create, process, communicate, and display digital images.
Thursday, June 6, 13
Tell them what Digital Image Processing is and at the end of defining the definition tell them that it is basically using the technology of computers to display digital images
Research

Now moving on to the hard work we put in our work and research.
Thursday, June 6, 13
So the application we used for our research is MatLab
Video

Now to show you more in detail of our research, it is my pleasure in showing you a video that we have done.

Now let me show you a few key points in our research. So when we first launched up our programme this is how it looked like. So as you can see there are a lot of codes here as shown. And this is just the First Step to the learning process in the Digital Imaging Process.

So all those codes that you have just seen in the previous slide all turn in to these pictures here. So Lena RGB is Lena Red Green Blue in it’s full form. So Red, Green and Blue are a Colour Space. Colour Pictures can expressed in many different colour spaces and RGB is just one of them. Lastly, we have Lena Binary which the picture seen in it Binary Form as shown.

Now after viewing the pictures we now see more detailed information about the picture. This information shown here is showing us more detailed information about the picture such as the Width and Height and the Colour type of the Picture. Isn’t that that amazing! It’s very similar to the same type of information you would see when coding or developing an application. So here you get to see more detailed information about the pictures.

This is the MATLAB DCT Coefficients and Block Pixels. So from this we learned that you can compress the image. By compressing the image, the image quality gets degraded. Also here you can see the Binary Code for the image. This code is made up of numbers

Lastly, we did Image Denoising. Image Denoising is a technique to remove the noise present in images. An example of noisy and one that isn’t is shown above. You should easily be able to compare and contrast these images between each other. So using MATLAB we were able to denoise images.
Spatial Redundancy
Psychovisual Redundancy
Thursday, June 6, 13
An Image Can Be Compressed because of two redundancies know as Spatial Redundancy has to do with a certain redundancy in the binary code of the image. So moving on to Psychovisual RedundancyIt is known that the human eye does not respond to all visual information with equal sensitivity. Some information is simply of less relative importance. This is known as Psychovisual Redundancy and this redundancy is then removed to compress the image.
One More Thing

One More Thing, before ending our presentation is

What we have learnt from this project. After going through this project we have learnt things such as Pixels and Resolution, Bit Depth and Colour Depth which is Number of Bits for each pixel. We have also learnt colour images and RGB which is a colour space. Image Denoising is a technique to remove the noise present in images. Lastly, we have also learnt Edge Detection which is the process of locating sharp changes in the intensity values of an image. All this is useful as we can then apply this in the future by such as if we were to become a photograph or Graphic Image Editor these skills taught would be useful to us. We also now do have knowledge about how images are formed which is really cool isn’t it?
