National EMS Certification as a Requirement of Initial State Licensure

As of April 1, 2016 National Registry certification is utilized by the following: Bahamas, Bermuda, District of Columbia, Dept. of Defense, Dept. of Homeland Security, Dept. of the Interior, Dept. of Justice, Dept. of State, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (2016). States that Require National EMS Certification as part of Initial Licensure. NREMT April 2016.

Certification update PATT — Psychomotor Authorization to Test

PATT applies to ALS Psychomotor Exams • Advanced EMT • Paramedic

Educators/Program Directors • Acknowledge an attestation before issuing the PATT • Attestation varies by state

• Early Eligibility testing (does not require course completion to move to PE) • Non-Early Eligibility (requires course completion before challenging the PE)

Certification update PATT — Psychomotor Authorization to Test

Candidates • Must have an NREMT profile • Must have completed application • Must present PATT at the exam or be turned away

NREMT Exam Coordinators • Submit exam roster 2 weeks before exam date — previously 3 weeks

NREMT Representatives • Students must show their PATT before exam admission • Compare the PATT letter the candidates show to the roster

• Number and name must match

Paramedic psychomotor exam Which seven (7) ALS skills are obsolete?

• Adult vent management • Vent management supraglottic • IV therapy • IV medication administration • Pediatric vent management • Pediatric IO • Random EMT

Why are these skills no longer tested?

• Portfolio requirements are rigorous • Attestation from PDs that portfolio exists for each NREMT candidate
