What is a
singular noun ?
• A singular noun names one person, one place, one thing, or one idea.
What are plural
nouns ?
•Plural nouns name more than one person, place, thing or idea.
Most all nouns
• Are made plural by adding –s or –es.
7 Rules I Should Know...
•To form plural nouns.
#1 Add “s”
•To form the plurals of most nouns.
#2 Add “es”
•When the singular noun ends in s, sh, ch, x, or z.
#3 Add “i & es”
•When the noun ends in a “y” and has a consonant before it.
#4 Add “s”
• to most nouns ending in “f” or “fe”
For some nouns
ending in “f” or “fe”....
•Change the “f” to “v” and add “es” or “s”
#5 Add “s”
•When the singular noun ends in “o”
#6 Some Nouns... •Don’t
change at all.
#7 Some nouns
•change completely
