Best Practices Guide for Local Governments

Water Committee

Metro Vancouver meters all water delivered to local government members, who in turn decide whether to meter residents and businesses.

“Metro Vancouver supports water metering as a utility best management practice…”

Associations supporting water metering: - BC Water and Waste Association (BCWWA)- Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) - American Water Works Association (AWWA)

Water Metering as a Best Management Practice (p. 5)

Water Committee

Greatest overall benefits are achieved by implementing universal metering.

Other more gradual approaches to water metering also result in net benefits.

Overview of Regional Assessment (pp. 8-11) Most aggressive

approach, shortest timeline to 100% metering

Gradual approach, longest timeline to 100%
