Noah and the Whale – L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.

Lighting

• The video has very dark lighting throughout. This suggests its quite an unhappy song and mirrors the title ‘life goes on’ suggesting the band/focus of the song is not very happy but has accepted there is nothing they can do about it.

• The bad, false lighting at the end of the video represents the false happiness of the people in the video.

Props

• Through out the video there is not a huge amount of props, the video mainly relies on costume and and setting. However there is one quite significant prop, the girl’s wig. This could be a metaphor for the title ‘life goes on’ suggesting that the girl still has to put on her makeup and costume every day, whether she likes it or not.The record spinning at the start of the video also suggest this, almost as if it represents the world still spinning.

Overall meaning

• The overall meaning of the video is that although some things may seem bad ‘life goes on’. The dark lighting and lack of facial expressions shows the people in the video are unhappy and the artificialness of the woman's wig and the lighting represents the how artificial the happiness of the people involved in the video is.
