No RetreatHitler’s orders to dig in and not to give groundleave his soldiers ew options to stem the tide o the advancing Red Army. Te ront-line troopscan only hedgehog their positions, ght wherethey stand, obeying the ‘No Retreat’ order, andpray or a mobile orce to counterattack and

throw the Soviets back.No Retreat uses the Ambush, Defensive Battle,Prepared Positions, and Reserves special rules.

 Your Orders

 Attacker 

Te enemy has been beaten, but not deeated.Tey have allen back to temporary deensivepositions.

  You must deeat them here and orce them toretreat. Once they have been pushed out o this

position, the road is open and our mobile troopscan surround and destroy them.

Defender 

Tings look bad, but the order has come to holdat all cost. Your orces are outnumbered andyour deences barely dug, but you must holduntil help arrives.

I you can stop the enemy here, we will be ableto re-establish the ront line and prepare or acounterattack. Tere can be no retreat!

Preparing For BattleDetermine the attacker and deender using the DeensiveBattle special rule.

Te deending player chooses which short table endthey will deploy in.

Starting with the deender, both players now placeone objective each in the deender’s end o the table.Te objectives must be at least 8”/20cm rom the centreline o the table, and may not be placed within 8”/20cmo any table edge.

Next the deending player nominates atleast hal o their platoons to be held of thetable in Reserve at the start o the game.Ten the deender nominates one o the remainingplatoons to be held in Ambush. Finally, they deploy therest o their platoons in their hal o the table.

Te attacker deploys their entire orce in their hal o the table at least 16”/40cm rom the table centre line.

Both players now place their Independent teams in theirdeployment areas starting with the deending player.

Beginning The Battle

Te deending orce begins the game in prepared positions,so their troops are in Foxholes and Gone to Ground.

Starting with the deender, both players makeReconnaissance Deployment moves or any ReccePlatoons they have on table.

Te attacking player has the rst turn.

Ending The Battle

Te battle ends when either:the attacker holds any o the objectives at the start o their turn, or

the deender starts any o their turns rom turn six withno attacking teams in the deender’s hal o the table.

Deciding Who Won

Te attacker wins i the game ended because they started oneo their turns holding an objective. Tey have broken thedeensive position and orced the enemy to all back.

Otherwise the deender wins. Te attack has been beaten of 

and the deender can now prepare their counter-stroke.Calculate your Victory Points using the Victory Points ableon page 195 o the rulebook.
