Fellow Members,

Let me introduce myself. I am Chris Gay your new SLC Chairman. I joined ASQ 5 years ago and ben-efited from that decision both personally and professionally. The resources and training available through ASQ

are very impressive. Virtually any issue that may come up in your career can be answered by a number of people

in the Fox Valley ASQ section. I encourage all members to get involved with the SLC. The benefits far outweigh

the small time commitment involved.

Members wishing to join the SLC will gain RU credits toward recertification.

Presently we have openings in the following areas.

• Vice Chair (2.0 RU’s per year)

• Programs (1.5 RU’s per year)

• Marketing (1.5 RU’s per year)

• Social Media (1.5 RU’s per year)

If you have experience in one of the above areas, and feel that you could be of help, we would love to have you

volunteer.

Data integrity is a global mandatory requirement for the regulated

healthcare industry. It is more than a mere expectation—it’s a basic ele-

ment of good documentation practices, one of the most fundamental pil-

lars of a quality management system. Robustness and accuracy of the data

submitted by manufacturers to regulatory authorities when bringing a

medical product to market are crucial.

The purpose of this book is to consolidate existing data integrity princi-

ples and expectations from several regulatory sources—including the U.S.

Food and Drug Administration, World Health Organization, and European

Medicines Agency—into a single and handy document that provides de-

tailed, illustrative implementation guidance. It serves as a means of under-

standing regulatory agencies’ position on good data management and the

minimum expectation for how medical product manufacturers can

achieve compliance.

Gregg Bresnahan - Agile Coach & Strategist

Agile N2N, Inc.

Gregg has worked in a variety of roles on software

development teams throughout his career. He brought an

agile mindset to the table before the word “Agile” became

known across the industry. In 2010 he participated in a full

Agile transformation of a global company. The experience of

both transforming and more importantly maturing Agile in an

organization guides him as he moves forward in his career.

Today, Gregg is an Agile coach consultant working for Agile

N2N, Inc. His current assignment is working with Options

Clearing Corporation (OCC) to provide training and coaching

at both the team and organizational level. He thoroughly

enjoys sharing and nurturing the Agile mindset with others

through Agile conferences, forums and communities of

practice.

Gregg has an undergraduate degree in Geography from Au-

gustana College, Rock Island, IL and a masters degree in

Cartography from the University of Illinois – Chicago.

Alan Berow - Agile Trainer

Agile N2N, Inc.

Alan came to Agile through his passion for delivering value to

customers. His career started in system design validation and

technical support for telecommunications systems. He saw

first-hand the impact on customers of long design cycles delivering

low-value functionality and failing to deliver what customers

needed. As an IT methodologist with a retail company, he saw the

need for last-minute software changes.

With Gregg, our other speaker, and a small group of Agilists, he

helped a global company begin its agile journey. Alan is currently

helping Agile N2N, Inc. by providing an agile boot camp for people

unfamiliar with agile culture and agile project management.

Alan has a BSEE from IIT, an MBA from KGSM, and graduate

certificates in Network and Computer Security, Project

Management, HR Management, and Telecommunications

Management. He is a Certified Scrum Master and Lean Six Sigma

Green Belt. Recognizing that the Agile BOK is emergent, he is ac-

tive in agile conferences, forums and communities of practice.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Fox Valley Section of the American Society for Quality is pleased to announce the 2020-2021 scholarship pro-

gram, offering two $2000 one-time scholarships to two candidates. As in previous years, we will award the Rich-

ard A. Maass Scholarship via the local high school and a section scholarship to the graduating high school child or

grandchild of an active section member.

The ASQ Fox Valley section offers two scholarships each year. First, the Richard A. Maass Memorial Scholarship,

honors one of the founders and a long-time leader of the section. It is presented to the one candidate, selected

from the recommended applications received form the graduating seniors at local high schools in the Fox Valley

section’s area who are pursuing a college degree the next academic year at an accredited University or four-year

college. All applications come through the schools. Anyone interested in this scholarship should contact their guid-

ance counselor for more information.

The second scholarship is the ASQ Section 1208 Scholarship. It is a one-time monetary award presented to one

selected candidate from the applications received from children and grandchildren of active 1208 members. This

scholarship program is open to graduating high school seniors pursuing a college degree the next academic year at

an accredited University or four-year college.

Both scholarship awards are paid directly to the awardee’s college. Candidates must write an essay and provide

supporting background information.

Interested in volunteering on the Scholarship Committee?

The Scholarship Committee meets in person or by teleconference at least twice per year. It submits a verbal or

written report to the Fox Valley Section 1208 Leadership Committee on the progress of the committee’s work.

The Scholarship Committee is made up of seasoned members. We have two members who have been on the

committee since its inception in 1990. The third member is on the committee over 6 years and newest member

started in 2017.

The ASQ Fox Valley Section #1208 is proud to announce its participation in the 2020 DuPage STEM Ex-

po (formally DuPage Area Engineers Week). This is the seventh year that the Fox Valley section is par-

ticipating in this fun-filled event.

DuPage STEM Expo is a fun, free, family interactive event providing children and adults the opportunity

to experience and explore the many fields of science and engineering through displays and presentations.

The Expo is geared toward children in K-8th grade, however all ages will enjoy the event!

Body of Knowledge (QBOK), including quality principles/tactics, technical topics, standards, real-world case

insights and subject matter relevance.

The Fox Valley Section of ASQ welcomes you and anyone interested in

volunteering their time, to attend one of our Section Leadership Council (SLC)

meetings. It is during these meetings where decisions and updates are managed

for the section. All feedback and participation is appreciated. Meals are

provided for these meetings and typically last a little under 2 hours. Arrive

around 6:15pm to enjoy your meal before the meeting.
